Deep Brain Stimulation
Got together with my PD friends last night along with a Rep. From Medtronics. He told us that they now prefer to do DBS while the patient is sleeping as apposed to being a wake. They put you out for 8 hours and you wake up fixed.

Comparison of active and ordinary serum vitamin B12 test results
Hi, I've come from the Thyroid UK community: one of the administrators suggested I post a query about vitamin B12 testing here and I would be very grateful for any comments. I recently had an active vit B12 test (Blue Horizon) at the same time as an ordinary one (included in a test for various other

I was principal clarinetist in a semi professional orchestra for 28 years and had to give up my position after my first 4years of PD. Anxiety and inconsistency did me in. I am still very active as a jazz/contra dance Clar. and Sax player in my eighth year and am convinced that playing everyday is slowing

Iron infusions and anaemia.
I have hypothyroidism, parietal cell auto antibodies and microcytic blood cells. Some experts are saying that means I have pernicious anaemia and others are saying as my B12 level is fine it's just chronic anaemia. What is the truth? I have finally after 10 years had an iron infusion after going through

dbs?
I have all the symptoms except a resting tremor. Diagnosed March 2011. Take 11/2 sinenet every 3 hours 6x a day. Med still works if I'm careful with meals. But still have off periods and diskinesia. Nights are becoming a horror as I have to pee every 2 hours and its getting harder and harder to move.

Best type of iron supplement
Have just found out I'm anaemic despite taking 1 ferrous fumerate tablet daily (I think it's 200mg). I've been advised to increase to 2 tablets but wondered if there's a better alternative in terms of absorption. I've never absorbed iron very well (B12 fine so not pernicious anaemia) and my highest ever

Amazing
About four weeks ago I read on here a post about gentle iron. After a really bad session of RLS I thought it was worth a try. I also went on a link to an article about the anemic brain. I bought some and waited for my legs to start . Sure enough that night they started, just as a film was getting interesting

Signed of work again!
Yesterday I went to see my gp and unfortunately I was signed of work again! As I suffer with electric shocks from my finger/thumb to my chest, the past few days or week I have been getting the electric shocks one after another which are very intense and so so strong.. It's like I'm sitting on the sofa

Iron deficiency anaemia and b12 deficiency
I have had a serious bout of iron deficiency anaemia when my haemoglobin count went down to 6 and I had to have 2 blood transfusions. Before that I thought I might have B12 deficiency because of some symptoms which were probably anaemia, but also because of numbness and tingling in my feet. My GP said

NHS Choices review of B12 deficiency page
Hi, I noticed recently that the NHS Choices section on B12 deficiency is due to be reviewed in the next few days. Do you think anything needs to be changed? I personally think they should remove anaemia from the title as some sufferers on this forum do not have anaemia. http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions

Has anyone with Beta Thalassemia improved their thyroid function and anemia the natural way without going on medication.
I'm English but currently living in Germany until the summer. I have Beta thalassemia trait but apart from some tiredness, I feel healthy. I had a standard check up and was told my TSH basal levels are elevated and the T3 and T4 levels are borderline low. My haemoglobin levels, haematocrit, Erythrocyte

Diagnosis bloods
So I had my bloods done 2 weeks ago and called for the result, they told me I would get a letter. The letter has only asked for FBC and Diff to be repeated in 3 weeks. Apparently I'm not anaemia as I asked. What could they be looking for? X

B12 and heart palpitations.
I am prone to ectopic beats which are essentially heart palpitations. Will the b12 injections make these worse?

NDT and rising Hashi antibodies?
Just asking: my buddy sent me her blood test results earlier this week. She's seeing someone who prescribes NDT. Last year I had suggested she mix and match because her fT4 was low. But this doctor refuses to prescribe levothyroxine. At that time the antibodies were mildly elevated. Now they are
