DBS SURGERY
With my DBS surgery scheduled for bright and early on December 15th, I have to say that the last nine months have passed quickly. I sometimes regret taking a year to make my decision that DBS was not only an option, but a "must do" for me. This website is a wonderful forum - I believe that the experiences

Letters to doctor which led to treatment - feel free to copy any parts
Hi all, I said on another post (https://healthunlocked.com/pasoc/posts/136700379/stunned-in-a-good-way) that I'd post the contents of the letter I'd sent my GP when someone asked, just in case it was of any use to anyone else to use bits of. Certainly, a few months ago when I was much more ill I wouldn't

Chromium Picolinate with Levothyroxine
I have read that taking Chromium Picolinate is good for lowering Bloody Sugar and to help with sugar cravings. I take levothyroxine of 175mcs at night and have been hypothyroid for over 20 odd years. I was just about to pop my first pill (as such) and someone said that I shouldn't take them with hypothyroidism

Just a quick comment on iron
Hello All A few years ago when I was trying to get my body sorted out and having regular blood tests it seemed my iron levels were through the roof for no apparent reason. The Doc asked me if I was taking iron supplements, which I was not. In conversation with a friend, she asked me if I was drinking

Blood Test Results
My doctor phoned me yesterday to give me an overview of my test results. I'm still B12 deficient even though levels improved slightly. B6 levels dropped, I guess because it wasn't treated when I had my initial B12 shots months back. Something even nastier popped up as well. My iron levels dropped by

Helping my Younger Brother
My 51-year-old brother was diagnosed with Young Onset, 4.5 years ago. He has been on many different meds, is still having problems. He & his doctor agrees that he's ready for DBS, we just wish his Medical insurance was. I'm helping him and my mom in any way I can with obtaining information on this Disease

“Clinical outcomes of asleep vs awake deep brain stimulation for Parkinson disease,”
Good to know: "The results, published in the journal Neurology, suggested that it is better for patients to sleep through the surgery. Additionally, traditional forms of deep brain stimulation surgery often cause patients to lose speech fluency. Matthew Brodsky, MD, an associate professor of neurology
