WARNING: Your Philips CPAP machine may be seriously harming your lungs and more
Philips issues recall for numerous models with same dangerous defect. I was alerted by friend, called Philips. Got no answers, was mistreated and misled. Expect lengthy holds, ear-splitting pseudo-music on holds. Here's link to Philips self-serving "explanation" and "advice." https://www.usa.philips.com

Dialysis @ 80 years old after kidney removal...
My 80 year old Dad has cancer in the tube between his kidney and bladder. It was discovered in December, but had likely been there for a little while. At the moment it's not spread and he's in decent shape. Remarkably a week last Friday he was given the opportunity of an operation for this coming Wednesday

Treating sleep apnea with CPAP therapy is associated with lower risk of heart problems
Findings from a recent study show that patients with untreated, moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea had a higher risk of experiencing a cardiovascular event, but the risk of incident heart problems was decreased in those who used CPAP therapy. Results show that people with moderate to severe

Tired
Like many of you I’m sure, but just speaking for myself, I am so incredibly tired of dialysis and kidney disease. I try to just get through a day at a time but it just seems like an endless bad dream ! I still work but have reached a point where I am to tired to do much else. As a former athlete and

Just had the operation for a fistula what’s the earliest you can start using it for dialysis
Hi I had my fistula operation 3 weeks ago and just had my blood results back and my GFR is now down to 6, I have an appointment with my consultant next week but wanted to ask what is the earliest you can start using a fistula, I know it normally takes 6-8 weeks to mature. I am worried that I won’t last

Metallic taste
I would appreciate some information on a newly developed metallic taste in my mouth. Everything was going along well: got my BP stabilized at near perfect levels, my last gfr 4 weeks ago went up 1 point from 24 to 25 and my creatinine went down 15 pts to 1.89 Nothing spectacular but as my kidney doctor

Dialysis about to start
I was just told by nephrologist about a week ago that he wanted me to start dialysis. I have no idea what to expect. I still feel fine and have no symptoms other than being a little more tired than usual. My appetite is still good, a little minor swelling in my ankles, and I still urinate the same

Issues with traceostomy and agitation
My sister has been in ICU since 26th Feb 2021 after contracting COVID. She has been on a ventilator and initially needed high levels of oxygen and pressure. Doctors were not optimistic about her chances of surviving. My sister has not had any issues with her other organs, or dialysis or sepsis etc.

Dialysis with type 1 diabetes: what does it mean for life expectancy?
I was wondering what it will mean for a family member who will start dialysis and has type 1 diabetes. Is life expectancy significantly shorter for him than for people without diabetes?

What are the risks of a type 1 diabetes going into dialysis?
I was wondering if it reduces your life expectancy significantly to go on dialysis when you have type 1 diabetes vs not having diabetes

Cystinosis and Fanconi syndrome
Hi, I asked this question a while ago but I thought I would try again since it’s been a while to see if there was anyone else in this community who has these illnesses. Cystinosis and Fanconi syndrome I was diagnosed when I was around 2 years old,. basically the cystine cells attack the vital organs
