Improvement in fatigue
I'm what the sleep doctors call, "a long sleeper," sleeping on average 11 hours a night. A year ago my kidneys failed due to an allergic reaction to medicine and I've been in stage 4 CKD since. One of the worst side effects for me was the added fatigue. My primary care physician suggested that

I have a severe axonal lesion of the peroneal nerve in my lower left leg and foot. I am interested in gaining more info on my condition.
In November 2019 it is presumed that I had some sort of fall and lay unconscious for at least 48 hours before being discovered by family members. I have no recollection of any of this. I awoke in hospital to find that my foot felt incredibly heavy and I was immobile and bedridden. In addition I was put

Had a rough night of sleeping including some cramping and numbness in both arms. I’m a side sleeper so I might have to try something else. Might have to try my back or stomach. I’m not on dialysis but lower back cramping has been a thing, and it hasn’t hit me in a while. Also my neck is still feeling

Adviceif you
if you were in the early steps of getting a transplant, ie just referred but not heard from yet, what advice do you wish you had? I've read people have bad outcomes and others with good outcomes. Its my desire to have a transplant before dialysis.

How long before feeling the benefits of Dialysis?
My husband recently started dialysis. His GFR was in the range of 6-9. He's also anemic. He's 62 and his uncontrolled diabetes is the reason for his CKD. His A1C is in the normal range now, but the damage is done. Today will be his 8th dialysis session. So far he isn't feeling better. He's still

Thank you all for the wonderful feedback, you have changed my life. It’s great not to feel alone anymore when no one around me can really understand this ‘ non pain’ enormous pain. I’ve a question, I know that RLS is connected to kidney failure and people on dialysis are prohibited from certain foods

Scary times
Just learned that my gfr is down to 14. I knew dialysis was in my future but now it looks like it is here. Not a candidate for peritoneal dialysis because of too many abdominal surgeries. Worried about having cannulas in my arm. Seems like a high risk for infection. I had MRSA and it was very unpleasant

ICU and teeth/dental hygiene gums
Hello, this might seem a strange one, given all the other major after-effects of intensive care, but I got a bit of a shock yesterday to be told I have gum disease. Given my regular daily brushing it was a bit of a shock When I thought about it I realised I did not brush my teeth for nearly three

Be encouraged and stay healthy during your wait
Hello, I just wanted to encourage everyone to stay as healthy as possible while waiting for that big call. I was listed on 4 transplant listings in Texas. I finally received the call on April 23, 2022, from Dallas transplant center. I waited one year and two months. I managed to get transplanted before

Cisplatin based chemotherapy and neck irradiation for cancer has caused Parkinsonism/MSA symptoms in my husband and no diagnosis yet. Help.
My husband received treatment for head and neck cancer 10 years ago. He’s in remission but the long term effects have caused problems. Now, he struggles with severe orthostatic hypotension; dizziness when standing up and labile blood pressure when sleeping. It’s hard to determine why his swallowing

Another bothersome result.
Hello - I have just had my latest set of test results back - my red and white blood cell count are below range - does this mean I am anaemic. My other results are stable and a few are falling. My Gfr is still 18.5. The one that really worries me is the urea level - that has risen again. In the uk the

There is fun to be had and there's always room for change
Hi guys, first of all, I'd just like to say what a great site this is, and thank you for allowing me to be part of your community. I've been a renal patient at St James' Leeds for longer than I care to remember (43yrs!) *Groan* In that time I've met the great and the good, been to hell and back, but

Did anyone here know that Sleep Apnea can cause AF?
hubby has had AF for 3years.not really doing well. Originally it was off and on. Didn't see a consultant for 2years as he had left for Machester(UK)Cardiology. Finally it all came to ahead and has had 1 ablation (failed) in May 2022. Put on amiadarone till next ablation August (2022). That failed
