Got a stomach virus had diarrhea for a few days doctor did labs my gfr went down said it was from diarrhea it is hard on the kidney especially when you have a low gfr I am under 10 gfr now one day I was fine the next day that virus got me. Trying to get strength back but I admit I thought I was doing great but got knock on the door. I have been putting off dialysis cause I been feeling super. But I’m realizing that when I should of started probably at 10 even though I was feeling good and no system , so just be warn a little stomach virus that doesn’t bring someone down could bring you down

Sorry this has happened to you. It's hard sometimes to know what to do and when to do it.

Hopefully once your virus is gone, your GFR will come back up a bit. Keep hydrated.

I’m so sorry that you’re going through this. I hope that increased water will help to raise your gfr at least some. I’m sorry you’re battling such severe kidney disease.

I am recovering from covid and had intestinal issues with it for 3 of the days. I also am concerned about effect it had on my kidneys but I’m at a much higher stage than you are. My gfr had improved after going mostly plant based and increasing water. I increased my water intake even more while I was having the diarrhea.

I will be having blood work in July so I’m praying that my kidneys recover from this illness by that time and I will pray yours do too.

Please let us know how you’re doing.

We care. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

I can relate to your situation. I got severe diarrhea from antibiotics and got really sick. The diarrhea left me with a 5 GFR. It slowly went up after l left The hospital. Keeps doing all you can with a healthy diet for kidney disease.

I share the time decision of starting dialysis. I am at that point.

I would talk it over with your Doctor.

Sending my best to you, and a prayer.

Sorry you are not feeling well. I didn't know diarrhea could effect GFR. I also have diarrhea and low GFR, I try to drink at least 64 ounces or more of water daily... Stay well and good luck to you.
