moving my cardiology care from Barts to Lincoln. Being tested for Sleep Apnoea.
we moved here ( a couple of miles from Lincoln cathedral) from East London 6 months ago. I have sick sinus brady/tachy23 years, been previously looked after by prof Schilling and team at Barts, so was concerned how the transfer would work. I am on my 3rd pacemaker which is monitored by ep's at Barts

73 year old patient w/o transport to dialysis
I am a Care Navigator and a nurse I support has a client who is Stage 3, ESRD. He doesn't have transportation to his dialysis. Does anyone on this blog live in Shelton, Washington or near there? I'm trying to find resources for him. We had $1,000 we were able to spend getting him to his dialysis

Painkillers for Drain Pain
Last night I suffered excruciating drain pain through all 8 hours of dialysis this has never happened to me before. All day my stomach has felt tender and tight. I never ever take painkillers for anything but last night was horrible. Does anyone know if painkillers would help or I am open to any other

Magnesium supplements
Hello - what are other peoples views on taking magnesium supplements. I have read conflicting information on this subject. I have invested in Lee Hull,s book and it states that magnesium is good for the heart as it helps to prevent calcification especially if you are on dialysis. On the other hand I

Acute anxiety issues during dialysis
Has anyone here experienced acute, physiological anxiety symptoms during dialysis - symptoms which appear suddenly as if from nowhere about 20-60 minutes into session, and do not seem linked to emotional / mental state? Symptoms so intense and distressing that they may require modifying or even immediately

Peritoneal Dialysis Challenges
Hi There, I believe there are restrictions for both hemo- and peritoneal dialysis and both types of dialysis are challenging…Having ESRD and having to go on dialysis disrupts your life in so many ways and you grieve for the life you used to have. This is my second time around being on PD😕 Although

The Queen is too tired to lift her crown
I'm feeling tired thinking about the next two weeks. I have so much to do and so little time . If you don't hear from me much after this week, it's because of school. I've been tired in general. I'm trying to think if it is no more than usual. Is increased tiredness obvious or will it become more when

At a Dialysis Crossroads
I have to decide whether to get a fistula in my arm and go with hemodialysis, or go with peritoneal dialysis. I spent a couple of hours in a center talking to a couple of nurses about peritoneal dialysis and it sounds like a bad choice given its near constant presence in your life. With hemodialysis

Medical ID Bracelet
After transplant or while on dialysis does anyone have a medical ID bracelet? Like the kinds that alert if you have a severe allergy or the like and are not able to communicate? If so, where did you get it?

I am getting my fistula fitted next week for dialysis. I have finally accepted that this is the next step. My gfr is at 9% but I feel the best, I felt in 7 years, since diagnosed 😳😳. Just wondering how people felt physically after starting dialysis? Do you put on weight, have more energy etc. I have

Am I not taking my Stage 4 CKD seriously enough?
Maybe I'm in denial, I don't know. My "helpful" friend keeps sending me articles and info on Stage 4 CKD. Probably because he's worried about me. Most of the medical articles and others have charts for prognosis based on age and CKD Stage. For Stage 4, over age 55 or 60, they say prognosis of life expectancy

Just need some support
Hello all, my son is 7. He was born with CKD, he's currently in stage 2. He has reflux grade 5 bilateral, hydrophronesis bilateral, hyperkalemia, distended bladder, urinary retention and chronic constipation. They all kind of play off of each other and are either all controlled and keep his function
