Annual Humiliation:
I wanted to follow up with what happened with the Transplant team last week. First of all, shame on me for expecting something else. Since I was off the list for two years and just reinstated last fall, I had never gone through an annual meeting. I thought when I talked with the nurse coordinator, that

More Questions about Post Transplant Life
I again appreciate all the replies to my post. Some of you took the time to write detailed responses. I have a question concerning taking trips, especially by plane. I probably would only take a plane to visit my nephews, who live 600 miles away. The plane is with a regional airline and is narrow

No Success with Renadyl for me....
Hello: Just wanted to post my experience with taking Renadyl. First, my Nephrologist never recommended it and I wondered why? Of course, if this did work for me, he couldn't recommend dialysis or a transplant and make money from it. A Renal Dietitian did recommend it. I tried Renadyl for six months but

Prepping for Colonoscopy with Dialysis and Diabetes
Hi, all! My mom recently completed a Cologuard test as part of her annual physical, and it came back positive. Her PCP sent her to see a GI specialist for a second opinion and they’re recommending a colonoscopy, which will require her to drink a lot of liquid and avoid solid foods 24 hours beforehand

One year on...
I This is my first Post on this site. I just celebrated my first year with my transplanted kidney. It was tough as the hospital was 200 miles away from home and they required me to be there every week. There were some complications, and I ended up in the hospital for extended periods. But I am grateful

Hopeless
Is there anyone who has other illnesses they deal with besides dialysis? Do you have a hard time? I'm also have diabetes, PTSD, sometimes it feels like someone just told me that I have all these things wrong with me. I know that I'm not alone. I just want to know how others deal with dual diagnosis.

Deciding on dialysis vs. deceased kidney transplant at 76 years old
I will attain 76 years in August, 2024. I have been on hemodialysis since early May 2024. At one point I was eligible for only a living kidney. Now it looks like the transplant center will approve my placement on an urgent protocol so I can wait 3 years for a deceased kidney. I could live 10years

Questions
The time has come when I need to make a decision about whether to go with hemo or peritoneal dialysis. That brings up many questions. If on peritoneal dialysis do you ever get a decent nights sleep or are you constantly awakened with alarms pain etc. Is the machine very loud - I have a hard time

FSGS - does anyone have this?
waiting for a full diagnosis but now looking like I have this. If you have had it, how has it been for you? When were you diagnosed & what was your EGFR at this point? How long before you went onto dialysis?

There's Hope
Being a dialysis patient can have its difficulty, but when you have dual diagnosis like being a diabetic sometimes it feels like all he'll breaks through. But I decided to reach out to my medical team and I got the support I needed as well as understanding my situation. I have a plan that I and my

Hello
Hi, I'm new to one of these pages. I have had FSGS since I was 7 and between the 4 transplants I have had plenty of dialysis. I am over 40 now and back on dialysis. I am having a hard time this time around. It has been harder and looking for others like me to talk with.

FTC investigating DaVita and Fresenius
FTC looking into required noncompete clauses with medical staff and the tactics they use to prevent folks from trying home dialysis. The dominance in the US of the two companies does not promote lower prices through competition. Their contracts prevent Dr from working for newer companies. https://www.politico.com

Depression in dialysis patients
How can I help my son who refuses to take dialysis on a regular basis. He has had many heart attacks, is diabetic and needs a kidney, as well as new heart. I recognize anger and depression in him. But, you cannot talk to him about it, because he becomes extremely agitated. He's almost given

ICU Stay Neuro Challenges
Seeing if anyone has any insight. On May 16th my mom (62 years old) went to her cardiologist with chest pain. She did have afib for the last three year but she had that under control. When she went to her cardiologist on the 16th he sent her to the ER just because he was concerned with chest pains

pain in fistula arm
I will be 76 years old in August, 2024 and have been suffering kidney disease since 13 years old. I have been on dialysis for over a month. One time after the needles were removed from my fistula, I noticed sharp pain when I extended that arm. The nurses at the center claimed that likely the needle
