Thank you sooo much for getting in touch, it's so lovely to see how different everyone's stories are and I'm so glad you are all living good life's π I was extremely lucky so was only on dialysis for a short time before my amazing dad gave me the gift of life...for the second time π it was not plain sailing by any means and my dad became extremely unwell after donation and2z nearly died which laid extreme guilt on me but I'm happy to say he has recovered and is back home now, I have had to have a few procedures post transplant and had drains popped I etc to remove fluid, I think more than anything I have worried that I feel worse then before and that makes me feel really ungrateful but then i remember I am still recovering and getting used to the mess etc. I'm looking forward to some normality and enjoying this new energy π xxx
Hi guys xx: Thank you sooo much for... - Kidney Transplant
Hi guys xx
Congratulations Kidneykel! I am happy to hear your Dad is feeling much better now. They say that nothing worthwhile is easy. I am hopeful and confident that your health will improve and that your bad times will soon be itant memories. Keep looking forward and do everything your nephtoloist tells you to! I had vatious problems and set backs when I first received my new kidney, but here I am 18.5 years later. I had few problems after those in the beginning. I wish the same for you!
Hi Puggywuggy π
Thank you much and congrats to you too!! Lovely messages of positivity really help on a darkish day so thank you, I've had a bit of a rubbish day but I think it's my meds, I would be concerned if I didn't feel a bit dodgy after copious amounts of tablets a day π I brightened this afternoon though and am feeling extremely grateful a f looking forward to a bright future xxx
As the saying goes...take one day at a time! I started walking when I was about 3-4 weeks out . I started just walking around the block, and gradually increasing it. I felt like crap, but walking helped my mood and how I felt. 8 Months out, I was walking the High Line Trail in Glacier National Park.
Take care of yourself and ALWAYS report any issue to your transplant team/nephrologist. Do not put any supplement or OTC drug in your mouth without getting the AOK. Even some antibiotics should not be taken by a transplant recipient.
My labs were fantastic! My nephrologist said that anyone this far out from a deceased donor transplant (24+ years)..my values are nothing short of a miracle! I am truly blessed. Creatinine remains stable at 0.9 with an eGFR of 90.
Hi π omg that's amazing!!!! I'm so happy for you what amazing levels!!! I am a really active person, I worked full time right up until transplantation so struggled to rest post op π I've been up and about since the day after the op but ruined I for myself by doing to much so was popped on bed rest, that lasted only a few days and now I have the right amount of activity and rest....everything in moderation π thanks so much for getting in touch Kelly xxx
