Question about dialysis
I was hoping someone could tell me how do they do dialysis if you don’t have good veins. Mine are so tiny even blood draws are difficult let alone a iv started. I’ve had major abdominal surgery three times so a lot of scar tissue and mesh . Hopefully I never need it but in the back of my mind I always

Nifedipine/blood pressure
it’s been a long time since I posted . I do however read other people’s stories and I think the conversations are amazing with so much advice been given thus encouraging people to often be able to advocate for themselves with the medics. I was diagnosed in 2015 but like many others believe the Scleroderma

What a week!! (Starting HD, continued)
Where was I? Ah, yes. I had just spent 3 days in the hospital getting in-patient dialysis for my first three rounds. Low Venous Flowrate, but they seemed to handle it, and ordered a Fistulagram. So, this past Monday, I drove to Duluth (114 miles, door to door) for that procedure, done in the Interventional

from PD to HD
Hi everyone. This is question is for anyone who is either having HD or has had PD and is switching to HD. I have been a PD patient since the beginning of my journey. I chose it as I felt it would allow me to go on working partime and have a next to normal life balance. Unfortunately, my PD exit site

Finishing College with CKD
Hi, I'm 22 and finishing my last semester in college with a gfr of 12. I've recently been feeling high levels of anxiety around my health issues and have found it difficult to be by myself for fear of passing out or having some kind of medical emergency due to my chronic kidney disease. I'm not on dialysis

Any Medicare Advice for ESRD?
My son is 25 and has endstage renal disease. He is on dialysis and preparing to learn more about a transplant. He is off our insurance in a few months and has been accepted for Medicare, but medicare is confusing, and some choices cannot be undone. SSA would not answer questions and I am overwhelmed

Feeling sick after HD (advice for my dad)
Hello! My dad (72) has been on HD for two years* now. Lately, he often finds that his blood pressure drops and he feels sick after he's returned home from dialysis, even if he feels okay during treatment. He says the clinic staff watches his BP closely as well as the amount of fluid they're removing

Transplant Cancelled
My wife's identical twin is a 6 of 6 antigen match and we were hopeful for a transplant in the next few months. GUT PUNCH !!! In the second to last day of donor testing she was found to have stones in both kidneys, one 9mm. She was immediately taken off donor status and my wife went on the active waiting

Transplanted.
I was transplant yesterday at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. I was on dialysis for two years and fully active list for two months. This came quickly I had the rollercoaster of emotions. I had a lot support from 👪 and friends. The Mayo Medical team top notch. Now I have the road to recovery. I will

How much salt is good for an elderly CKD patient?
I just read a reply to a 77 years old lady advising her to keep her salt low. I wonder if it is good advice for an elderly patient according to a study reported in the periodical Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation titled "Predictive effect of salt intake on patient and kidney survival in non-dialysis

Which RLS medication also works with dialysis?
Hello everyone. First of all, unfortunately I don't speak English and have to translate everything with Google first. I hope that I am still understandable. I am 84 years old, have had RLS for a long time and have recently been on dialysis. Especially when dialysis is ongoing, my RLS symptoms become

PD abdomen HUGE
I started manual pd dialysis Tuesday and this is now Wednesday eve. Currently on 1500 ml. My abdomen is like I am six months pregnant in two days. Will that be the norm for me now? I expected some bloat but I seem to be up three sizes and hard to sit straight with knees together comfortably.
