Two brain haemhorrages in 2012. Fantastic treatment from NHS. Headway has provided a wonderful community for cognitive therapy, peer support and friendship. Now trying to work on developing my cognitive functions. Looking for whatever can help me.

I have had fibromyalgia for a number of years, so all usual symptoms - widespread pain, fatigue, IBS, insomnia, etc. Why is that any further symptoms are always put down to this?? I had a slipped disc 7 years ago but it was undiognosed for 8 months so progressively got worse. Top and bottom of it, I

Hi there -my introduction
Hi. I've been suffering with anxiety since I was a young child. It peeked around 20 years old and I've learned to manage it with a combo of meds and cognitive therapy. Even with all of these in place, it rears its ugly head in an aggressive way every now and then. I'm wondering if anyone has had any

I think I have managed my B12 and vit D deficiency well. However, I think my thyroid has not recovered fully after inflammation although it has recovered to a level of 'within lab reference range' unfortunately. Doctors are useless, no matter how much you explain to them that sometimes its a worth

Metabolic Switch
It’s as if a switch has been flicked. Evidence is mounting that chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is caused by the body swapping to less efficient ways of generating energy. Also known as ME or myalgic encephalomyelitis, CFS affects some 250,000 people in the UK. The main symptom is persistent physical

Hello
Hi I'm 34 and have been suffering from anxiety. I thought I was going crazy, I felt off balance and like I was living out of my body, always nervous and shaking having heart flutters. I was always shouting and my kids and just wanted to be by myself and then when I was I felt so lonely and unloved. I

Discussion with dad about medication
Hi everyone, I'm a 19 year old girl with OCD/GAD. I went to see my psychiatrist yesterday, because I have really disturbing negative thoughts which I don't want. This all because I had a really rough adolescence growing up (divorce of my parents). At the moment, I'm living with my dad, he's really nice

Health Check: how do you know if you’re obsessed with your health?
An Australian population survey found illness anxiety affects 5.7% of Australians at some point in their lives. Given the uncertainty of living with CLL, I expect the percentage of us that are unhealthily obsessed with our health is considerably higher. Jill Newby, Lecturer and NHMRC Early Career Research

‘Still Alice’ and early signs of dementia
It could just be mild

, which is common as we get older, but it’s well worth getting it checked out by a doctor. If it is dementia, seeking help for your loved one at an early stage is important. There are many organisations that offer invaluable help and information.

Went for appointment with nurse... she did a GPcog assessment!
Is
there a difference between brain fog and
cognitive
impairment
? I had told new GP of all my symptoms including reducing acuity, not that she commented. Should I be concerned? How badly? Thanks yet again for your help. By the way, further blood results added to last post, folate etc.

Always extremely anxious with intense and constant panic attacks and have been for over 40 years
I am a 46-year-old male who has been dealing with severe anxiety and depression for over 40 years. I say that because my first memory of this was when I was four years old, just after dealing with spinal meningitis and losing about 80% of my hearing. For most of my life, I have dealt with spiraling

Treatment of Anxiety Disrders
Hi I'm Leo Kominek (LKominek), I had social anxiety for 30 years and went to psychiatrists for help and they helped some. Most of their help was in giving tranquilizers of all types. They helped but in order for them to keep helping you have to use more and more until to get addicted. I finally had

Sadly this has been happening to me too.
This began happening to me in July of this year (2016). It happened after having a complicated migraine which caused visual aura and loss of feeling in my fingertips and feet. My doctor told me that I'm having anxiety attacks now not sure if they're related to hormonal changes or menopause or the complicated
