The current status and challenges of CAR-T therapy in CLL
A few members of this group are scheduled for CAR-T and others might find themselves in the same situation in the future so I thought this would be of interest. "In recent years, novel immunotherapies, including CAR-T cell therapy, have greatly improved treatment options for patients with hematological

Migraines stopped after 42 years of pain!
I had my first migraine in my mid-twenties,. By the time I was forty, I had chronic migraines, about 3 a week. I can't remember all the different types of medications and treatments that I've had during this time, with the triptans working fairly well. Now, I haven't had a migraine in months. In May

carbidopa, levodopa and anal/rectal pain
Hello all! I know this might be a little bit of TMI for some of you, but I have to know if anyone of you out there has ever experienced severe anal/rectal pain from using carbidopa levodopa? Especially from the time you take it until the time it seems to start to work? I have been on C/L since February

Switching to home hemodialysis
I have been on peritoneal dialysis using a cycler, which has been wonderful, for two years. Unfortunately my clearance has been falling over the last four months and treatment increase in the amount of dextrose has caused me to gain nearly 30 lb. My clinic has me scheduled to begin training for home

Not positive but not negative?
I’ve just had a Day 5 FET and my hcg has come back at 17 on my first blood test. So it’s a wait and see! We have never gotten out the start gate before so I don’t know whether to be too hopeful or not. Has anyone had similar and had a good outcome? I’m 43 so I bit scared to get any kind of excited.

Elevated creatinine from tacrolimus?
I am 19 months out from my kidney transplant from a deceased donor. Was doing well and my creatinine was actually within the normal range at about a year post transplant. However, since then my creatinine has been creeping up and now is 1.74. Have tried lowering my protein intake, and more hydration

Slow rising HCG - bleeding and clots - ivf
Hi. I had a FET on 20/09. Tested positive on 02/10 with hcg blood reading of 592. Started spotting on 06/10 which has got progressively heavier - like a period and shedding lining. Went to EPAU today and nothing detected on scan but per transfer would be 5+3 and too early to detect anyway. My bloods

Headache
Does anyone get a headache on their eyebrow that won't go away?I've woke up with this today and it hasn't gone yet. I've had paracetamol which is all I can take as I'm pregnant, avoiding screens, making the room as dark as possible, putting pressure on the spot that hurts... nothing is getting rid of

Reducing Pred after increase for suspect GCA.....communication problems....follow up.
Thank you to everyone who replied to my post of five days previously. I did, eventually, achieve a prescription from the on call GP, which made more sense and I am now Pred rich! ( But it took four days of unnecessary and anxious run around). I have a review with the rheumy this week as well so we

IVF Positive - good HCG- bleeding 5 days later
I wonder if I am holding on to hope. Had FET and on testing date was positive- HCG level 592 at first blood test. 5 days later and I have started brown spotting - not enough to fill a liner but with a few streaky bits- like the start of a period perhaps….. is this an impending miscarriage? Did anyone

The NMN-SARM1 Contradiction
Sterile alpha (SAM) and Toll/interleukin-1 receptor (TIR) motif containing 1 (SARM1) is an autoinhibitory NAD-consuming enzyme that is activated by the accumulation of nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) during axonal injury. Its activation mechanism is not fully understood. 1 Axon degeneration contributes

Would like some advice please.
I made an appointment to see the GP yesterday because I was becoming really breathless. I normally walk 2 to 3 miles a day, but have been struggling to do that recently. It was the nurse I saw, who checked me over and BP was pretty high, but pulse only 42, so she went to talk to the doc, who said to

UK NICE Approves Ibrutinib +Venetoclax for First Line treatment for ALL Patients from today
Probably one of the best news stories that we have been able to announce in many years for patients in England and Wales. We are absolutely delighted that this effective treatment is now available for ALL CLL patients as their first treatment if their doctor feels it is appropriate. This treatment

Implantation Issues
Hi. I have been through 4 transfers with donor eggs. The first one was a miscarriage at 6 weeks. The other 3 were implantation failures. Following the 2nd and 3rd transfer, we went through KIR testing to check compatibility with donor and then had our three embryos PGTA tested. They all tested normal

Is there any hope?
My OTD is tomorrow, but I took a test this morning to prepare myself for the worst. It was negative. This is our 4th ICSI round (all been fresh rounds) and we had 3 embryos transferred day 3. Including this one I would have had 9 embryos transferred and not once have we had a positive. I'm nearly 41.

Relapsed CLL: New Approaches Prolong Survival
Dr Furman says that genetically unstable CLL patients need a combination therapy approach to treatment irrespective of MRD assessment results. This is only a short read and Dr Furman's opinion is always worth taking note of. In case it’s behind a paywall, here is the article in full. Credit to

Expression of TCL1A gene is found to drive onset of blood cancer
One of the causes of blood cancer is non-inherited mutations in blood stem cells that can lead to the cancerous growth of abnormal cells. Reporting in Nature, scientists now suggest that targeting a gene called TCL1A may be able to suppress such growth and decrease the risk of blood cancer....
