Thank you to everyone who replied to my post of five days previously. I did, eventually, achieve a prescription from the on call GP, which made more sense and I am now Pred rich! ( But it took four days of unnecessary and anxious run around). I have a review with the rheumy this week as well so we can, hopefully, review where I'm at (and also confirm communication channels). It was just so re-assuring to receive your replies and to know that your support is there. Thank you.
I am unsure what relationship exists between Pred, PMR and migraine type headaches and would welcome the knowledge of others on this forum. A couple of months after starting Pred for PMR, last year, I experienced the sorts of migraine I used to get pre-menopause. Eventually these disappeared after a few weeks. Their recent re-appearance on a much more frequent basis, with visual fuzzies led to query GCA checks, which I have to say were pretty quick off the mark. (Bloods and ultra-sound and optician check, all seemed to be negative, and no other indicators). The migraines and visual fuzzies diminished with the higher Pred dose, but still appear from time to time.
My next question is: Do we know enough about common or garden migraine and GCA, and the link between them, to differentiate their management? And where might I find more information on this?
And, just to finish, when I remarked to my daughter that the increased Pred made me pretty grumpy and I would be walking down the street muttering angrily to myself, she said that the doctors call it 'Roid Rage'.... a well known condition! Watch out!
