Blood results help please
After my recent GP visit and waiting for several months, I finally have my blood results. It wasn't an easy one though. After a terrible GP apt where I was constantly interrupted and made feel like I'm wasting her time, where she has told me that all hypothyroidism is Hashimotos and refusing to check

Update on Cholesterol
Hi Everyone! Just thought I'd share a small but positive update on my previous posts. I had some tests ran earlier in the year due to family history of heart problems, My ECG, Echo and CT Angiogram/ Calcium score was all good, my only negative was some follow up bloods I got done around the same time

Help with blood tests please - Triglycerides high again
Hi All, Would appreciate help with my recent blood test results please. I am taking 75mcg/100mcg alternate days. Then upped my T3 in April to 12.5mcg per day after blood tests showed high cholesterol. My recent tests show T3 increased from 4.3 to 5.47 so very positive increase. LDL down from 3.4

... what, then, do we die of?
New study of SEER data below [1]. The old comforting words that men with PCa "die with the disease, not of it" does not apply once mets occur, of course, but is largely true for local disease (the majority of cases in the U.S., due to screening practices.) It has long been known that men with PCa

Atorvastatin
I had been resisting my GPs' calls to take statins for some years having pointed out to them that although they were saying a total cholesterol level around 6 was too high the ratio of HDL to LDL was good. About eighteen months ago I acquiesceded and started taking Atorvastatin. However, l was hospitalised

Just started MTX yesterday
Thought I would share that I started MTX 7.5 mg yesterday evening. I was terrified of the side effects as I hate nausea. So I was just lying there in bed waiting for it.... I never came!! I fell asleep after 2.5 hours after taking my 5 mg nighttime pred. at 11.30 PM. So far so good. Now I need to increase

Change of statin medication
I have been contacted by my GP to change my statin from simvastin 80 mg to astorvastin 20 mg. My estimated non HDL is currently at 2.7 and they want it at 2.5. Has anyone had experience of astorvastin?

cholesterol Results
Hello, I have recently had a routine blood check from my GP as a result of suffering with fatigue. Turns out I have glandular fever and low folate. I was told by the receptionist that I also have “high Cholesterol” and despite being given a copy of my results, they don’t really mean anything to me

Appt at Lipids Clinic and discussion about thyroid levels
So I had an appointment this morning at the Lipids Clinic, referred by GP, as total cholesterol was 8.7, when annual thyroid bloods taken earlier this year. I said to GP that I didn’t want to automatically go onto statins because of counter-indications and that I thought perhaps I should increase

I know I'm slow but...
Well, I've completed Week 1 of the NRC 10K plan as helpfully posted by CDBD. Was surprised when I checked the stats for the Next Speed Run. My pace for the first interval at 5K pace was 11.26 minutes per K, which was much slower than even my warm up pace and I certainly thought I was putting in more

Inflammation is the real problem and increased cholesterol the solution. So why has cholesterol got such a bad rap?
Two good, short articles that sum up what I've been trying to say for ages:

Olive oil guys… in a dark can… best you can afford. My ontological perspective..:I’ve always seen that OL and fish/ oil as medicine. My own researcher bias; my own HDL is now over 2 and I eat a supper every night full of crap.
