Due to a vast array of hypothyroid symptoms I recently had a thyroid test which showed:
6th July:
TSH 2.7 (0.3-4.9)
FT3 3.9 (2.43-6)
FT4 13 (9-19)
TPO 156.2 (<5.6)
TGA 43.1 (<4.1)
Cholesterol 6.4 (total)
Then rested including more tests:
25.7.23
RBC all normal except
MCV 104.1 (81-98)
Total cholesterol 5.46 (0-5)
LDL 3.73 (<3)
HDL 1.73 (<4)
CRP1.79 (0-5)
Iron 25.3 (5.8-34.5)
TIBC 49.6 (45-81)
UIBC 24.3 (24.2-70.1)
Transferrin sat 51 (20-50)
Ferritin 89.7 (13-150)
Folate serum 3.69 (>3.89)
Active B12 >150 (37.5-150)
Vitamin D 124 (50-124)
TSH 1.4 (0.27-4.2)
FT3 3.55 (3.1-6.8)
FT4 12.9 (12-22)
TPO 123 (<34)
TGA 291 (115)
Adrenal hormones DHEA & cortisol normal.
Had been taking B12, vitamin D & K2.
Test taken at 9am fasted. Not on Levothyroxine.
Plan at present is simply to feel better. Already ditched caffeine & alcohol. Now going to trial 3months gluten and dairy free. Not too concerned about coeliac testing as I have never had noticeably more flatulence or loose stool associated with gluten intake. Can’t wait any longer to start changes. Any thoughts or advice greatly appreciated.
Thank you 😊

I’m anxious to feel better but seem to be feeling worse. Had to have two naps just to get through today.
Folate has arrived so I’ll start taking it tonight.
Are my T3 & T4 levels low enough to make me feel so tired? The constipation is an issue too, taking laxatives twice a day to stay regular. Fed up with being cold too 😳.
Should I see a private GP with a view to asking for levothyroxine?
IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results
In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12
Post discussing how biotin can affect test results
SlowDragon Interesting article on magnesium. I’m wondering, are there any risks involved in supplementing with magnesium despite blood tests indicating adequate levels? I suppose I’m really asking, is there a toxic dose?
