hi, I have suspected familial hypercholesterolaemia, they started me on 40mg atorvastatin, added in ezetimibe and now added in bempedoic acid ( I also take ramipril and atenolol) I have started having regular headaches. Most days I have a headache and these sometime develop into full blown migraine where I have to go to bed.

I know I need to visit the g.p or get into contact with the lipid clinic just wanted a heads up to see which med might be the cause?

Has anyone had headaches as a side effect of any of these or combo of the above? I’d like to see which is most likely the cause so I can experiment with removing it or lowering the dose.

I have bloods every 3 months and am told everything is improving.

I tried ezetimibe for a month became anemic during that time and discovered it was causing me to pass blood in my urine… never again.

Yes, I would meet with and have a chat with the prescribing GP / lipid clinic as you should not have to suffer with such awful migraines.

Look the drugs up on Drugs.com as you may be having side effects as much as Atrouvastatin is very widely prescribed, it's not for everyone.

Also, be sure to mind your diet; little red meats, fats and add more fruits and vegetables.

I am on 40mg of Atorvastatin with no problem. I was taken off ezetimibe as my GP said there was no benefit to me taken it. I would definitely go see your GP or ask a lipid clinic for help. I have also found Heart Uk are also good at giving good advice. I have been on a large dose of statins for thirty years and never had the problems you are experiencing. First 80mg of statins and five years ago it was changed to 40mg Atorvastatin.
