I know I'm slow but...

Well, I've completed Week 1 of the NRC 10K plan as helpfully posted by CDBD. Was surprised when I checked the stats for the Next Speed Run. My pace for the first interval at 5K pace was 11.26 minutes per K, which was much slower than even my warm up pace and I certainly thought I was putting in more effort. The other intervals were pretty much as expected so I hope the technology was just having a blip. That aside, it's tricky getting the efforts right. My actual 5K times are almost exactly half of my 10K times when I last did that distance, so I think I just have one pace when my body thinks it is doing a "long" run.Anyway, so far so good. I'm enjoying it and hopefully it's helping the upcoming cholesterol test.

I would take the recorded times with a pinch of salt if they look off. Sometimes it’s clearly recorded my rest between the intervals because my watch while I’m running shows one pace and nrc thinks I was running 7 minutes per km slower! Slower than my walking pace!! That’s one of its faults unfortunately. If you felt you were running similarly to the other intervals, I’d definitely assume it was a tech fail!

Great run. You’ll find it easier to feel the different efforts as you get more experienced at this sort of run. Count this as a big win!

Thanks MissUnderstanding, that's very encouraging

Excellent start & don’t worry too much about the stats.. they are never that accurate… I too battled with pace in the beginning but as you get further into the runs you start to “get it”. I am loving this!

Thanks Annieapple, looking forward to progressing through the plan.

If you are looking at your run as recorded on the NRC app, take no notice! I bet if you look carefully at the route trace you will see it shows you running on a different route to where you really are. Mine does that anyway. One of my minute intervals the other day was over 14 mins pre KM, I could hop backwards faster than that!! But apparently I can walk on water....I've come to realise the GPS in a phone is way wonky!

Yes, the app certainly seems to lose the signal at times!

My husband and I have both had problems with NRC over the last week. He started a 60 min run with me and then never came back. I ran without his musings but when I stopped it had recorded the time but gave me a flat pace line over 8k. My husband’s run wasn’t there at all. Hope it gets sorted.

Oh dear, let's hope these are occasional blips! I once had a run on NRC which refused to close and as I then went for a car ride it recorded over 100 miles run.

Crikey, that location searching wouldn’t have helped your battery usage either .

NRC can be a bit strange at times, but overall for a free app it's brilliant, I love the background chatter while I'm running.
