Tips for reducing cholesterol
Cholesterol peeps ! After 6 months , losing weight and no butter , I’ve found myself oddly with higher Cholesterol instead of lower ( 8 to 8.4 ) . I’m about 10 days into 40mg of daily stains . According to BMI I’m 2 stone overweight ( oddly also a regular marathon runner ) . Any tips ? Suppose the right

More on SAD and keto
I haven’t had a problem with alcohol, just the standard American diet ie SAD diet. It’s pretty standard in keto world that HDL goes up and triglycerides go down. When you go low carb you almost invariably go high fat. Thus it would seem to me to lower the saturated fat in blood plasma keto is the way

Seeking help with blood results and whether to have private test and which ones?
I’ve recently joined the group after being diagnosed just before Christmas. I’ve just got my blood test results and could do with some help knowing whether to get a private blood test . I’m not doing very well physically or mentally and still have a lot of symptoms. Not sure which blood tests to have

Private cholesterol test
Has anyone tried the private cholesterol tests? If so which would you recommend? I had my bypass in September last year and am on 40mg statins daily. I just want to know what's going on inside me, I haven't had my cholesterol checked since way back when. I'm surprised they don't do it regularly. Thanks

Big Increase in T4/T3 levels after small increase in Thyroxine
I hope you can help with these latest results. My wife increased her Thyroxine from 75-100 mrg in November following some low results and we just received the following test as the T4/T3 has increased a lot. At least these results show that she is converting T4-T3. We have focused on increasing Vitamin

Statin or not??
I'm going to be 50 years old later this year(!) - I'm 5"10' and just under 10 stone (62kg). I gave up smoking 10 years ago and although I'm not an athlete I do keep quite active as I have 2 young kids. My diet is reasonably healthy - porridge every morning and recommended amounts of fruit and veg throughout

Cholesterol levels, what's the latest advice?
After my heart attack 8 years ago I was put on Atorvastatin 80mg. I was 65. I asked my consultant what my levels should be and he said as long as my total cholesterol was comfortably below 4 mmol/l he was happy. After a bit of experimentation I found that 40mg kept me at a total Chol3.6, HDL1.64, LDL1.6

Can Anyone Tell me About These Blood Test Results?
I have a friend who seems to be exhibiting thyroid trouble. He is lethargic (he is usual active) he has problems sleeping, has dry skin and psoriasis, has difficulty walking, has mood swings etc. Unfortunately, his doctors will not listen to him and have refused in this instance to undertake a FT3 test

New paper showing relationship between TSH and lipid levels with TSH in the reference range
This paper links TSH and lipid levels. it indicates that as TSH rises, so this expression of potential problems increases also. It obviously has implications for those above 4.2 in TSH, ie subclinical hypothyroids from 4-10.

Fatigue and generally feeling low
After my HA in March 2020, I felt I was recovering well - feeling well and exercising regularly. I experienced some ectopic beats in the summer, which were checked via 72 hour monitor and deemed to be harmless - they faded away after a few weeks. Other than that life has been pretty much back
