Just started MTX yesterday

Thought I would share that I started MTX 7.5 mg yesterday evening. I was terrified of the side effects as I hate nausea. So I was just lying there in bed waiting for it.... I never came!! I fell asleep after 2.5 hours after taking my 5 mg nighttime pred. at 11.30 PM.

So far so good. Now I need to increase every 14th day, and see if it holds. I am on 15 mg pred. for 7 days due to a long lasting flair (cannot hold it together on 10 mg).

LDL Cholesterol is too high (as is HDL fortunately), however I hope that MTX can help me taper prednisolone OR even work for PMR symptoms.

Time will tell - there is no real good science to support use in PMR, but then again no drug company will fund a lot of research on an old drug out of patent as there will be no return of investment.

I will remain hopeful that whatever variant of PMR or autoimmune disease I have MTX will work.

Have a lovely day - here in Copenhagen we have have autumn for the past day - but today summer returns!😊😊

Been a bit autumnal down here in northern Italy too - but summer is back today!

My rheumy said he finds splitting the MTX dose, half before bed and half next morning reduces the nausea and it was certainly something I never suffered when I took it.

Thanks! It is good to know there is a plan B if I get into trouble. Do you think that I am out of the wood for this week, or can side effect come later on during the week? :)

Difficult to say - and it sometimes takes a while for the effects to build up. I suffered fatigue which increased week to week,

Hmmm - have to wait and see then. Fatigue is my major issue already, so that can´t really get any worse 😂
