I’m sorry to hear your cholesterol levels are worrying you. My sister recently got her cholesterol results back and her figures were 6.3. Her GP acknowledged that it was “slightly raised” and the normal range should be “5 and under”. She’s been advised to lose some weight as the doctor doesn’t think it’s high enough to be treated with medication, which is probably a good thing. My mum does have a history of cholesterol and is on Atorvastatin for it.
There are different types of cholesterol levels with their own ranges as you’ve pointed out. I’m not familiar with these, but I know there are others on here which are so I hope they will drop by soon to explain in more detail.
Tos92 have you had your cholesterol blood levels checked too?Are you aware of familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH)? FH is an inherited condition which causes raised cholesterol at an early age.
The last time my cholesterol was checked, it was within normal limits.
My sister’s GP doesn’t seem to be overly concerned about it at the moment. I believe there are lipid clinics available which conduct genetic testing. This is a potential route to explore if necessary.
