New study explains important cause of fatal influenza
It is largely unknown why influenza infections lead to an increased risk of bacterial pneumonia. Researchers at Karolinska Institutet have now described important findings leading to so-called superinfections, which claim many lives around the world every year. The study is published in the journal PNAS

Operatic thyroid/body function
I've tried to formulate our thinking on how the HPT/body axis works. This came to me as a useful analogy.
Thinking a bit more I think I have producd an overarching analogy to the HPT axis. The body is a stage. The performance is an opera on that stage. On occasion, the chief singer and a projectionist

I was diagnosing with emphysema in June. I’m finding the cold air agitating my lungs and the effects can last all day. Has anyone else had a similar experience. Thanks in advance

Thin lining - Raspberry leaf tea - hot or cold?
Does it matter if you take the raspberry leaf tea hot or cold? Of course I understand ideally hot so it also makes the uterus warm, but usually I leave the tea bags in a hot water cup to sit and brew for sometime. Many times I forget, and when I remember the tea is already cold, and I just chug it like

Flu Vaccine
Hi dears.. I am CLL and on Ibrutinib now for 4 months. All my Drs have advised that I should tale the Flu vaccine. Yet all the people I know - who are not CLL - had some fever and much fatigue for at least couple of days. So I am afraid that it would affect me badly given my low immunity. What

Tumeric Tea
Hi, Does anyone have any recipes for a decent tumeric tea brew? I seem to be using it lots in cooking and I've heard of this type, but rather than trawl through endless youtube videos, some real world examples would be great as I'm not sure how I'd get on with the taste, Appreciate any ideas, thank you

Flu Jab?
I made enquiries through Ask My GP about my flu jab as I had not heard. Was told, although I had been having the jab since 2006, since 2018/19 I was not entitled to it, and I must have got through the net, regardless of having a low immune system, taking enbrel and having RA. My meds etc. have not

Diuretics and Ibrutinib
Wondering if anyone is on diuretics and Ibrutinib, lasix, Aldactone, HTCZ, and your thoughts on this. Started diuretic for blood pressure, drinking 80 ounces of water a day, definitely flushing out cells, but not I am staying hydrated
