Tumeric Tea

Hi,

Does anyone have any recipes for a decent tumeric tea brew? I seem to be using it lots in cooking and I've heard of this type, but rather than trawl through endless youtube videos, some real world examples would be great as I'm not sure how I'd get on with the taste,

Appreciate any ideas, thank you

Darren

Hi Hidden

I've not tried it myself, but this recipe from BBC Good food looks quite nice:

bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/tur...

I'm tempted to try it myself, now I've had a look at it.

Hope you find a recipe that suits you, and that you enjoy the taste of.

Zest :-)

Hello pleased to meet you.

Please can I give you some cautionary advice not over dose on any spices..

All spices do have health benefits but must be measured controlled as many do have side effects in suspectible people.

You need to be careful measuring is the answer.

Around quarter a teaspoon I use in all my recipes.

With a lot of experience knowledge on spices herbs please ask me anything.

I am known as The Spiceman for thirty years on going..

With all spices the marketing adding that Turmeric is the wonder spice so are lots of other spices and herbs..

Media marketing means those supplements contain nothing or very little of the spice.

If you wish to add Spices to your diet and add to nutrition the following can suggest.

I am also aware that please buy in small quantities go on line if wish to.

Use sparingly.

Side effects over use of any herbs and spices whether dried or fresh can be harmful to health..

As mentioned toxic kidney heart issues circulation blood problems, skin issues, damage to stomach bowels.

Loss of minerals, through not absorbtion of food.

Please I always do research something you need to do can be effective knowning..

Turmeric best way is to have it as part of healthy balanced diet..

Curries, Tagines, Pulse Bean dishes recipes Soups.

Spice list recommended..

Cinnamon, Cumin, Ground Coriander, Ground Ginger Turmeric, Paprika.

Fennel Seeds.

Herbs included Basil, Oregano, Thyme, Sage, Rosemary..

Chilli noticed have not added no need unless you wish to and be careful taste touch smell.. always.

Too much chilli effects stomach and bowels.

Little good for blood pressure feeling of elation and helps to cool down..

To use add measure to a bowl add hot water activates oils spices for ground spices..

Prevents burning to any dish recipe..

Whole spices different dry pan add saute few seconds to spice grinder then to a bowl water hot to recipe..

I use ground but very small amounts.

Buy own supermarket brands be fine.

One other too hot add Lemon juice if using chilli..

Add with every meal a yoghurt.

With honey fruit Cinnamon this helps cool down stomach and any problem after wards..

I would not advise making a tea with Turmeric.

Mornings need a boost to stimulate bowels stomach sense of well being.

Hot water just from the kettle cool down a little drink with some Mint leaves a good one or use sprinkle Cinnamon just a small amount.

Medium sweet tea from Morroco is the recipe..

Add Mint leaves fresh to a pot of water steep then drain add to a cup with Cinnamon drizzle honey..

Please ask me anything happy to help..

Please take care

Yes I created a mix powder to go with my curries, I had some in a tikka masala and it helped the flavour. I would have loved to have learnt and work in the places you have!

youtu.be/gPVCxDoOIhA we use this recipe (from about 1.50sec in) omitting the coconut oil and substituting with honey and vanilla extract. It's lovely and warming.

I've not tried these before but you might find a recipe here you want to try youtu.be/u_URtsY1FGg

After reading Zest s post, I've just realised you're looking for a tea and not a milk 🤦🏼‍♀️

Ha ha I don’t mind trying either, but I’m now mindful of what MrRigatoni has put

I don't use a lot of turmeric so I'm safe, haha. It's definitely good to steer away from any extreme and to find balance :)

Hi again Hidden

There's an article here about dosages/amounts of Turmeric per day - you might find that interesting:

Turmeric is a bit in-your-face all by itself. The tea blends I've seen are invariably based on ginger with a little bit of turmeric (and quite a lot of sugar...).

If you live in Cornwall, you should be able to actually grow turmeric if you can get hold of a bit of the fresh rhizome.

in reply toTheAwfulToad

Yeah I read honey is added lots.

Sadly, no space to grow anything where I live not even a window box but will be on the move shortly so hopefully next place will be better, kinda like the idea of growing it!! 👍
