Getting adequate bone minerals without milk or yogurt
I took
calcium
and Vitamin D for many years because I've always hated milk and yogurt. I have some digestive problems now and can't take
calcium
. I try to eat green veggies, and I eat cheese, but I worry about my bones. I tried
calcium
hydroxyapatite but got constipated. Any suggestions?

CAD at 47 - Shock
Calcium
score low but still in top 25% quartile given age. Apart from high cholesterol since young age - no other health issues. Prescribed low dose Aspirin 75 and Atorvastatin 40 - tolerated pretty well.

My mother’s PSP , an update
Her magnesium was very low and
calcium
and potassium were very high. They gave her fluids and electrolyte but didn’t help her. Her BP was very low!

Oh dear! it's that 'senior moment' time again
One of the 'uncommon' side effects that I am particularly concerned about is bone fracture, which I believe can be due to the impact on vitamin B12 and
calcium
absorption. So if you have any experience of this, I would love to hear from you. Meanwhile, I'm off to find a dark corner........

Calcium
in the blood is not so good as it may (I'm guessing) indicate bone loss? Pure Cod Liver Oil is the best form of Vitamin D but shouldn't be taken if you are on blood thinners!! A huge subject!

I have just had a very comprehensive blood test for things like
Calcium
, kidney, iron, thyroid etc, all the things that can cause similar symptoms, all returned with no further action needed.

DEXA results and nerves
My
calcium
and vit d have been all within normal ranges for years so despite my weight issue I seem to be getting enough nutrients for average adult my age. I spend most of spring/summer days outdoors as much as I can.

Echocardiogram
After having 2 ECGs (nothing untoward detected),
calcium
ct scan (zero score) & medication, looks like finally under control. Today I've received a letter for appointment at hospital to go for echocardiogram (another doctor from my surgery has requested this).

I asked ChatGPT about Fosamax. How does the medication Fosamax fake your DEXA score?
Right now I am just sticking with doing my weight bearing exercises, taking
calcium
citrate and vitamin k2. My next scan is this August. Hoping there is an improvement. But if there is not, I still am hesitant about starting any medications.

24 hr Calcium Urine Test
I would be interested in knowing what results others have received on this test since being on Pred. I know Pred leaches Ca from the bones. That Ca goes somewhere and if it's not hanging out in the blood, then most likely it's being dumped by the kidneys. Or so it seems to me. It could be plaquing up

I had not had a dexan scan or
calcium
until after I broke my hip. My hip replacement never took me back to full fittness. I have had a permantly swollen leg and ankle pain in my knee and painful piriformas muscle, sciatica on off for the last 7 years. I was fed up.

Please does anyone know a private Rheumatologist in Cornwall or Devon who I would be able to go and discuss my osteoporosis with? Thank you.
.- very good diet with
calcium
foods and supplements and a healthy weight 4.-I am active such that I take part in marathons etc but I only walk now because I am fearful of falling and breaking more bones (both heads of radius fractures R in 2008, L in 2018 and 2021)… whilst on alendronate) 6.

GP disagrees with diagnosis of osteoporosis
When I started on pred I asked about
calcium
and vitamin D and was assured they weren’t necessary if I had a healthy diet.

Possible over treatment with Levothyroxine
PTH and
Calcium
normal but Vit D insufficient. GP wrote to endo who has asked for repeat bloods and scan in 6 months. I’ve been working with a private GP who practices functional medicine and some lifestyle changes have been made since November.

My 1.25 vitamin D and
calcium
levels are fine, but I cannot take vitamin D supplements because of the danger of hypercalcaemia due to the sarcoidosis. I only was on steroids for about month, immediately post-injury.
