I’m scheduled to have DBS surgery February 29 - if you have had DBS, is there anything you wish you‘d known beforehand?
I want to prepare mentally (and physically) for the surgery, and would appreciate any input from members of this community who have had the experience of DBS surgery. Thank you in advance. Wayne

Hi all. I've been taking opioid medication for over 10 years for endometriosis/adenomyosis. I'm now finally on the waiting list for a total hysterectomy which should get rid of the bulk of my pain - and therefore i will stop the pain medication. However, I've now to have a meeting with a chronic pain

Always the unexpected!
I recently had to have surgery on my face for Basal Cell Carcinomas (a not too drastic skin problem from sun damage). As I have multiple health issues the surgeon decided on a general anaesthetic to do skin grafts. I checked in and when the anaesthetist saw me I asked if he had seen the letter from

Open Heart Surgery Groups
Hi there. I live in Brighton and I recently had open heart surgery (at The Royal Brompton in London) Does anyone know of any support groups for people who have been through similar surgery. I am in my 40s but would love to have people to chat to of any age who have been through the same thing. Thank

Bowel Symptoms, Post Surgery 10 weeks, started pre-chemo and continuing/evolving
Hello again lovely ladies. I had my first Carbo/Taxol infusion last Thursday. The day before I had to go to the dentist as I had bad jaw ache and thought it must be a tooth infection. It wasn't luckily. (I think I had had pre-chemo nerves-related nightmares the previous two nights and had been grinding

25th Park Run!
It may not seem like a big deal but it is to me. I couldn't walk til I was 4, have had 3 hip replacements and back surgery. I never ran before I was 69 and now I've done 25 Park runs. I'm feeling very proud of myself. I even knocked a minute off last week's time! It was a glorious morning. I just took

HoLEP Affect on Pca
as posted earlier, I have both BPH (80 cc) and localized prostate cancer. Clear PSMA. I’m having HoLEP surgery. Wonder how this will impact the cancer. How will PSA respond? What happens if HoLEP actually removed the cancer?

1 week after circumcision
I am 29, and had circumcision surgery 1 week ago. I have been super sensitive down there but what bothers me a lot is the stitches. They are black and on the one side they feel very tight and some stitches are sticking out and it feels like they are stabbing me. Overall very uncomfortable and painful

post Viral symptoms
I returned from Australia with a heavy cold and painful cough. I have been confined to bed mostly for 2 weeks and really quite ill. A man coughed throughout our flight, this could be the source although my grandchildren were ill too. No sooner did I feel this virus improve it seemed to gain more impetus

Post surgery
Hello. I am 3 weeks after open heart surgery to repair my mitral valve. I am still wearing compression socks but for the last 3 days one of my ankles has been swallen. Is this normal weeks after surgery? Getting a GP appointment is almost impossible so wanted to know if anyone else experienced this.

Collected Responses to Give more funding for thyroid research and patients after price hike Petition
The petition launched by Pete Taylor has received a response, and there have now been numerous posts referencing that. And replies on each of them. This it is getting spread and some will be missed, there will be much repetition, etc. For that reason, this new post is intended to collect everything

Trying again after surgery
Hi, I've just had a laparoscopy to remove a cyst on my ovary and dense grade 3 endometriosis which was on my womb, ovaries, bladder, bowel and ligaments. But the doctors didn't tell me how long I need to wait before trying for a baby again. Has anyone had any experience of this surgery and how long

I've had period pain since I was 15 and each year the pain only gets worse. When I became 18, the pain became crippling. The pain will start mildly a week or two before I start my period. Anyone use Fobumix?
I had my annual asthma check at the surgery yesterday but it felt like a tick box exercise which i didnt benefit from, and none of my questions were addressed. I wanted to know about the Fostair MART regime which i think i could benefit from, already being on Fostair 200 i was hoping for some flexibility
