Bypass surgery

Hi, My Mum had triple bypass surgery on the 27th Jan, surgery seemed to go well but recovery had complications with wound being infected, being told she had broken ribs, then being told she didn’t.

I had a quadruple heart bypass in 2007 , when I was 63 , which just happened to be my birthday!! , my birthday again today and an 84 , never had a problem so far , so I guess there is no simple answer to your question.Baz.

Hi 10 weeks ago I had heart bypass surgery. I had to wear a thoracic support which supports the healing of the sternum, for 6 weeks. Its been nearly 4 weeks since the removal of the thoracic support . I have experienced the most discomfort since the removal across my chest and back.

the following has hit me hard both physically and emotionally: On the 26th December 2024 I had chest pains and visited the GP the next day, the GP carried out a ECG then sent me to the hospital to have blood tests, I had an engiogram, following these was sent to have an operation for a triple heart bypass

been researching travel insurance for the states... no issues getting cover ( hubby had bypass surgery 11 years ago)...

Hello colleagues, I had triple bypass surgery in 2020 and have worked hard to get my fitness up. I am on lots of medications but otherwise test results are stable. I am 70 years old I enjoy walking but wanted to know how much to push myself?

My then follow up consultations with surgeon in January allayed many fears of the surgery to where I am now. Now, the morning of my heart bypass surgery (with robitotic arm) the less invasive surgery, now less than two hours away.

However he then said that I would need bypass surgery in the next few months, he is putting me on the list today - this was a very positive response that I really did not expect.

My initial thoughts were that they were considering bypass surgery but we’ve now been told he might be discharged with beta blockers and medication to manage his condition. Surely without any stents he’s high risk of another heart attack?

Hi, I had open heart bypass surgery in May this year and expected the scar to be sore for a few months, but I am still in quite a lot of pain both on the scar and across my chest. Is this normal? If so, does anyone know how long it will take to fully heal and not hurt anymore?

Good morning all, Had my triple bypass surgery last Wednesday morning, at Southampton general, I came home yesterday, but honestly felt so good I could of come home Sunday but you have to wait for physio to sign you off and a few other checks.

my surgery is next Wednesday, triple bypass , I was wondering wether buying an incentive spirometer would be helpful? Any other ideas to help with the first few weeks ? will I have to wear the stockings for dvt’s , can these be put on by yourself? Limited to daily help I could ask for.

We got the call on Thursday for Mike to be admitted yesterday for bypass surgery, aortic valve replacement and Atrial appendage clip. The hospital is spotless and every member of staff was kind and understanding on admission and we met a lot!

if you had a heart for one or more arteries can you let me know - and where was it done and when?

My husband is 3 weeks post triple bypass surgery. He still has pain, he is still feeling out of breath when he walks up the stairs. He is off his food and he was wondering if anyone was experiencing this. Thank you.

It will be three years on 4th of March since my massive HA and then triple bypass surgery at the end of that month. For some reason i’m getting wound up about this up coming anniversary every single physical thing i do has my mind racing into worrying about the least bit twinge in my heart area.

Hello - just checking in to let you know my partner Frazer had his heart bypass surgery yesterday & is doing well. I visited him last night in ICU and he seemed better than I was expecting.

Has anyone ever refused bypass surgery? If so, how did it go for you?

I'm nearly 3 weeks post triple bypass surgery and although the early days after discharge from hospital were positive, it no longer feels like I'm making any progress and it really is getting me down.
