possible diagnosis of PMR for my husband.
for the last 2 weeks my husband has had some headaches, neck ache, back ache, right leg ache and a pain in his groin. He’s found it difficult to sleep during the night. I’ve giving him a hot water bottle to wrap around the top of his leg which he says helped. He’s lost 4lb in weight in a week and is

Ha! Having said I had not had a recurrance of my fast AF since the first time in 207, I was visiting Norfolk to do some minor jobs between tenants on my daughter's house, when I started having a rapid fluctuating heartbeat whilst resting before going out to dinner! Got to the restaurant and other half

Chronic kidney disease
My recent GP-ordered blood tests have revealed chronic kidney disease. I have been told that an appointment will not be necessary. My creatine count is very high this time but B12 etc. are fine. Should I worry; everything online says this is serious.

Planning for transfer #5 but terrified
I feel quite vulnerable while writing this. My 4th transfer in September failed. I've had 2 with OE and moved on to DE for the last 2 transfers, 4AAs but not sticking. The clinic wants to do a thorough blood test, which I'm planning to do December. I'm 45yrs old and anxious that 46 is around the corner

Told by gynae MRI could not be done to check for endo/adeno, confused!
Hi I posted last week as due to go for hysteroscopy and was pretty worried. Gynae was friendly and due to me saying about pelvic pain offered option of general anaesthetic if I wanted it, which I do. I said that previous ultrasound had showed a bulky womb, he said that was prob due to the fibroids I

Plant Sterols
Has anyone found taking plant sterols have reduced their high cholesterol? My fasting blood test shows my LDL is 3.94. Dr insisting I take Atorvastatin. I like to try alternatives first.

Rux on NHS UK
Hi All I am due to start Ruxolinitib soon. However my haematologist is unsure if I can get this on the NHS. I am intermediate 1 according to DIPPS plus. I have occasionally blood tests showing below 100 platelets which has not been used in the scoring of points. You have to be intermediate 2 or high

Can anyone tell me whether the MMA test can be obtained through the NHS? I saw a GP yesterday (I am still dizzy following falling backwards again a week ago) I am going for my blood test on Thursday to see if my folate level has improved after taking a folate /B12 supplement for 4 months on instruction

Basal cortisol test
I’m a little confused ( not unusual). A response on another thread suggests that a basal cortisol level of 346 is ‘suboptimal’ and it’s prompted me to ask for clarification. Is a basal cortisol test the blood test before 0900? If so, I read that the ‘normal’ range is 102 to 535…so 346 would fall

Tapering withdrawal
Morning all , I am currently tapering from 3mg to 2mg , my blood test inflammation ratings are normal , but I am having very sore muscle pain whilst tapering , I am assuming it may be withdrawal symptoms from prednisone as I have been on prednisone for over two years , but dr is thinking it may be

ongoing IBS.
Hi everyone. I’ve had IBS for 50 odd years on and off but this latest attack began in July and is still ongoing. Worst one I’ve had and lasting the longest. As well as stomach trouble it’s in my back too. Feeling sick too and lost my appetite. Lost over 3 stone but thank goodness stopped losing now.

Medichecks advanced thyroid rest
Hi all, The instructions for my medichecks test says to stop B12 for two whole weeks before testing! Do others follow this advice? I know from this forum that I have to stop any biotin containing supplements for 7 days before any blood test.

Blood Tests
Like many others on here having bloods taken results in heavy bruising, after taking steroids for a number of years my skin is paper thin, so at my latest session last week I was resigned to this happening again , but at the clinic there was a new nurse in attendance who noticed some bruising from knocks
