Just over 3 months since I started taking daily 500mg Nicotinamide (B3) capsules.(Health 4All purest B3 Nicotinamide, with no additives) About £7-£8 for 90 caps. This week I had my blood cholesterol checked . It has been raised for over 30 years but I have been unable to take Statins. 12 months ago

Metformin, and Statins, Yet Again
Just when you thought the door was slammed shut on any real benefit of Metformin for APC, it, and statins too, again show there is something of value going on there in this analysis of two trials. mTOR down regulation? Decreasing inflammation? Don’t know. Buy I am one non-diabetic who will keep these

I was advised to start on medication to lower my blood as apparently the guidelines for an acceptable level are now lower than previously. I have also been given statins . I have been given Atorvaststin which I know and have read in the paperwork that it can cause aching muscles ( my husband

Dear all, I thought my story might be of interest to some. 3 yrs ago I collapsed in the gym with some sort of arrhythmia which spontaneously recovered after half an hour. During that episode I never had any chest pain. I was subsequently investigated and by exercise echocardiogram was found to have exercise

Heart diagnosis query
Good evening my husband suffers from psoriasis, has recently had some light treatment. Following this, he was experiencing tightness of the chest, didn’t know if it was connected to the treatment. At the same time I received an appointment from the Roy castle foundation to have a lung cancer scan.

Pain and stiffness - menopause or something else?
Hi. I was put on pred, mycophenolate and alendronic acid for 2 years in 2008 after several strokes and many tests which concluded in a diagnosis of primary (cerebral) vasculitis. AF and AMD - effect of anticoagulant
Has anyone else with AF and wet AMD experienced a sub-retinal bleed? I was diagnosed with persistent/permanent AF six months ago at age 75. No physical symptoms other than irregular and raised (just over 100) heartbeat. Taking 1.25mg Bisoprolol and 2x 5mg Apixaban since diagnosis. No other treatment

CABG Disability Discrimination evidence of effect of not taking meds.
I need to find a source of info for emoyment tribunal that outlines the substantial effects on day to day of not taking the medication prescribed post CABG x3. Eg Beta Blockers, aspirin, clopydodryl. Statins... ETc. We know that's to promote optimum health but apart from saying, he'll probably

HELP!!
From invaluable advice given to me and other members, and articles referenced, I have gleaned the following:Autonomous nodules can be T3 secreting and take over thyroid function, a dying thyroid often makes more T3 than T4 in order to preserve levels, but this can't last. Also, can have central hypothyroidism

Lipoprotein a
Hi. Does anyone have high lipoptotein A. Any success in reducing it? I'm 52 years old and have been told my coronary artery disease is premature so I was referred by cardio team to the lipid specialists. I was/am in good shape, decent weight/BMI and fitness. I'm now 8 weeks post-CABG x 2 and 7 months

Long term medication effects
Hi all. Perhaps one or two of you out there are able to advise from your own experiences. I had a quadruple heart bypass in December last year, so I'm now almost six months post-op. As does everybody who goes through this situation, I have been put on medication, as prescribed by my cardiologist. Just

Does Everyone With CKD Have to be on a Statin?
Last year, before my beloved GP retired, she put me on 10mg Crestor as a preventative, she said all CKD patients with a GFR less than 50 should be on a statin, and that it was recommended. So I went on. My gfr dropped 6 points My neph, immediately changed the dose to 5mg. So that is what I have been

Any experience of Bempedoic
I have been taking statins for some 9 years I have had problems with LFT being high and taken off for 9 months when cholesterol went back up to 7.9. Eventually went back on when LFT ok, then in last year tried Ezetimibe with simvastatin but I have gastric troubles and made worst, so just back on simvastatin
