Statins 'DON'T cause muscle pain': Major study reveals common side effect is caused by ageing — not the life-saving pills

Interesting article by Malcolm Kendrick: Assessing cardiovascular disease looking beyond cholesterol

I wonder how it might relate to cardiovascular

STATINS
I know that several people take statins. I thought you may be interested in New European Guidelines which ‘Drastically’ reduce statin eligibility. In fact they essentially “eliminate a statin indication in women.” https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/976715?src=wnl_tp10n_220825_mscpedit&uac=312914HR

high T4, Normal TSH, lowish total T3, rising Lipoprotein(a)
Hi, I asked a similar question some time ago and I believe the consensus was that I'm not converting T4 well. So I'm here probably to express frustration.... My endocrinologist won't test free T3 for some reason. I went to a gp recently because I'm losing weight. He tested among other things, T4,

Hello, What might it mean when Lipoprotein(a) levels are above reference range and rising? From what I've read they should be relatively stable and the levels determined by genetics. Since 2017, when I had thyroid cancer and a thyroidectomy my lipoprotein a levels have risen steadily from the

high cholesterol
hi, I’m 32 and had a blood test recently and it has come back as me having a high cholesterol at 7.6. This has really scared me and since (3weeks ago) I’ve changed my diet and exercised even more than what I did before. I’ve lost 5 pounds in that time. I was active before hand and wouldn’t say I was

Blocked LAD and travel insurance
Hi all I am 61 and in 2017 I was diagnosed with a blocked LAD 50-60% not bad enough to stent but on medication. Statins, amlodipine and aspirin. I am looking at going to America next year and wondered which insurance company anyone could recommend. Also, how would you describe my condition - would

Worried after recent results of an angiogram
hi, I’ll be 50 in a few months, I’ve been on high BP medication for almost 20 years. Over the past few years I’ve been getting strange chest pains. I’ve had ECG’s in the past but nothing showed up. I had an angiogram done last week, the consultant wrote back to say I have a small ASD, small volume of

Which statin to take with Nubeqa/Darolutamide? Pitivastatin or a different statin?
I took someone's advice and called Bayer Corp today. What a waste of one hour. Minimum wage level 1 employee bumbling around trying to get me answers. I already read the entire product packet. It says that Crestor and Lipitor (and other statins) can accumulate and cause problems/side effects. Looks

I was just turned down by NHS endocrinologist. I have a plan but I do not want to waste any more time. I was hoping for a T3 prescription.
This was not unexpected by any means. My doctor was rather easily encouraged by me, to refer me. I saw a copy of most of his letter online and I was pretty much sure I was ‘set up’. A mention in the letter re: my refusal to take an increase in Levothyroxine. I don’t think I actually refused but I

What next after sarilumab?
Tocilizumab was a miserable failure and resulted in me having to take statins. I am about to start sarilumab and as this is a IL-6 med (whatever that means) I am worried that if I get the same side effects I will need to stop that too. Is there a medication that is routinely given after trying sarilumab
