Inclisiran

Its over nine months since NHS England announced with a fanfare that they were going to roll out a programme of cholesterol reduction Inclisiran injections for people who qualified for this medication when used alongside statins. It was apparently going to benefit 300k people in the first wave and the roll out was going to go ahead 'at an unprecedented scale'

So as someone who seems to tick most of the boxes, this week I asked my surgery if I qualified for the treatment only to be told that they were waiting for a directive from the NHS, then nurses would have to be 'trained' to administer it, and then when this was in place, my records would be reviewed to assess my suitability, and I would then be contacted. Hopefully I'll still be alive when and if I get to hear.

Anyway I thought I would ask others on here to see how patchy this roll out actually is for those qualify which is principally those who 'have previously had a cardiovascular event and have persistently high LDL-C levels (2.6 mmol/l or more) despite maximum lipid-lowering therapy'. Anyone taking it ?

Finally some time ago I was nominated by my surgery to participate in a trial of Inclisiran and was all set up to go but it was then postponed due to Covid and now, although underway again, my local hospital cannot support it due to workload, so I have been stood down. Oh the irony!
