Hello everyone. Had TIA amonth ago. Put onto 7.5 amlodipine, 75 clopidogrel and avorastatin. Unable to tolerate statin- dizzy, spaced out, brain fog. Replaced with simvastatin. Same result.
Doc on holiday but starting me on eztimibe after seeing result of blood test next week. He is hoping I dont get a stroke in the meantime…?!
Has anyone experience of this drug please.
Still unsteady from statins which I hope will pass off. Also seem to have peripheral neuropathy in feet- this is new, not great!
Thanks

Thank you Cowans. Real relief to hear all these positives re Ezetimibe. A great comfort. The docs seem so keen on statins and I was relieved when mine accepted I had problems.
Hi.I was put on 40mg of avortastatin after my mini stroke and it made me really ill - my doctor wouldn't believe it was the statin, just said I must have picked up a virus! However he did change me to rosuvastatin 10mg but then increased the dose to 20mg. Since then I have not been feeling 'normal', I am feeling tired and been napping in the daytime plus just not feeling 'right'. It's good to know there is an alternative to statins. I will ask him about them.
Hello Petercat1. Do hope you are able to solve your problem. I am really hopeful Ezetimibe will work for me. Your symptoms sound similar to mine. Fingers crossed for both of us. Cachalot
I had a terrible time on simvastatin 15 years ago. It took me 4 years to discover what the culprit was. I had awful spells of balance issues / dizziness which meant I was completely immobilised for about 8 hours. Nothing helped I just had to wait for it to pass. I had them in ever increasing frequency until it was very random and I was terrified to leave the house alone, horrific! I refused statins after that. I’ve just had 2 more stents put in and flatly refused to take them. I survived 16 years after my heart attack without them and if I get that again I’ll count myself lucky. If not then so be it. I had no life and I’m still traumatised. Evil drugs in my opinion although I’m sure others will disagree.
