I am on 20mg of atorvastatin and I understand that's not good for RLS.
I'm sure I've read in the past that there is a statin that is ok for us sufferers but can't remember the name. Could anyone help with that please.

All statins make RLS worse. Nexlizet (Nustendi (UK) is a cholesterol lowering drug that is not a statin, but I don’t know if it exacerbates RLS symptoms. Ezetimibe (Zetia) - reduces cholesterol although It doesn't reduce cholesterol as fast as the statins, but according to Chris Columbus it didn't trigger his RLS and then there is Triglide which seems safe. You might want to discuss these with your doctor. A more difficult way to reduce cholesterol is to go vegan. My husband lowered his cholesterol from 221 to 131 this way.
All stati s make RLS worse I understand. Also from what I have read statins are pointless be abuse cholesterol doesn't cause heart disease. Read Dr.Malcolm Kendrick's blogs.
I came.off mine and it has made a difference, I don't actually take any now but I keep getting checked and have agreed if it doesn't stay stable I will go back on them. I have dropped a lot of my tablets due to RLS, doctor wasn't happy but supported my decision luckily.
That is a problem we have a registered GP and we see them all the time, unless they are away and we can see another stand in for them. Everyone has a family doctor x
I did not want a statin after my heart attack in January due to RLS. I am taking Ezetimibe and it has not been an issue. I am not sure if my cholesterol is getting lower or not though. Have my next app in November.
Cardiologist recommended statin for my AF and GP prescribed 80mg Atorvastatin. It was one of my suspects for reappearance of RLS. Recently had blood test, cholesterol is quite low, so agreed halfway house to reduce statin to 40mg. RLS seems to have taken a holiday, hope it is permanent , but there are a few other irons in the fire so wary of attributing it all to statin reduction, but psychologically it feels like a little victory.
