low cho

Hi, I recently had a fall and as a result I went to hospital where blood tests, X-rays and scan were done. I had 2 broken ribs. But the blood test results came directly to my phone. One of the tests were ‘out of range’ the mmol/l cholesterol result was 0.8. My question is the very low cholesterol good or bad. I am on warfarin for AF and statins

Thanks in advance

If that is your total cholesterol that is very low and I would suggest you chat to your GP. On the other hand if it is your LDL (bad cholesterol) that is IMHO (remember I am not medically qualified) that is pretty good.

Thanks for that, I’ll double check the result

Then maybe still contact my gp

I had a phone call late at night from my GP it wasn’t good results from my blood test.Unfortunately I researched it myself and it appeared to be Kidney failure.I drove myself crazy for a week when they were repeating the test.Turned out it was nothing.

I did more harm than good with the worry and should have just asked my GP further questions.

Maybe a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. I probably have to stop googling it Thanks

did they check your heart for possible pacemaker?

No, why have you mentioned pacemaker

Because I had a fall and woke in hospital with pacemaker fitted. I wasn’t asked if I wanted one.

Blimey, maybe your fall was a blessing in disguise it must have highlighted a problem with your heart, either a very low or high heart rate or irregular heartbeat. They don’t fit them unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Either chat with your GP or your local pharmacist, which might be quicker. I think if there was a concern your GP would be aware.
