Iron Deficiency - even when taking iron supplements
Several posts recently have mentioned people having some difficulty in improving iron levels sufficiently even when taking Ferrous Sulphate or one of the other higher-dose iron supplements over a long time. At the same time, some people have mentioned Floradix being helpful. Well - it has been

Reading posts on this site has been illuminating. I have had IBS for as long as I can remember (I'm 66). Even as a small child I can remember saying I had a 'funny feeling and tummy ache' and doctors scratching their heads about the cause, which was never found. Over the years I've had barium meals

How can my Ferritin have dropped again?
My Ferritin started out at 10, (ref range 13-150) - it only went up to 13 after months and months of supplementing with Ferrous Sulphate from the doc. I decided to try liquid iron instead so i began taking 2 x Spatone liquid sachets a day (with vitamin C) that i bought from the Chemist. I got my levels

Gentle iron supplements
My rheumy gave me ferrous sulphate as ferritin levels are only 8 but it gave me an upset stomach. I've since tried ferrous gluconate which had the same effect. Anyone know what else I can take that won't cause stomach cramping and upset stomach?

Some things I used to do in the latter stages of PSP
Sometimes I used to lift the back of head up slightly with my hands around the back of the neck and underneath the back of the base of the skull, when the person tried to swallow. I think it helped a bit with swallowing. It is very similar to the principle of leaning the person forward to help with swallowing

My Scary Baby Journey 1
I was so happy to find out that I was pregnant with my second baby, our first baby...a lovely little boy called Ben was a 'surprise' to say the least and it was nice to be married and have a 'planned' baby....although on hindsight I think that's where we went wrong! I had Ben when I was 22 and despite

Hi - I know (I hope!) everyone's happily in dreamland, but just wanted to get it out. Just so tired/stressed - bathroom(s) still aren't' finished, and won't be now before Christmas, I don't think. :'( They've still got the flooring to do upstairs and down (don't know when) and the shower to fit. I should

What is the consensus on the best time to take organic apple cider vinegar - before or after meals, or away from meals? With NDT or not?
I also take a liquid calc zinc mag supplement, ferrous sulphate and a ton of other stuff

Trust Your Pharmacist?
Today the BBC has posted the story below. Funny how we are always being told to consult with our pharmacists because they know so much. I guess that precludes them claiming ignorance in these cases? [i] 17 December 2012 Last updated at 10:28

In Britain, we have beautiful, rich, soil varieties that contain all of the required life-giving nutrients that hold the magical 'pinch' of life's wealth and health. We only ever hear about a few of the minerals and vitamins that are required in our diet but I would like to share with you a little information

Can my symptoms be thyroid trouble?
Briefly I have felt unwell for 3 months now and really at the end of my tether. My symptoms are tight feeling around neck, increased mucus, pain on swallowing on the right side and absolute exhaustion and lack of energy. My doctor suspected thyroid and I had scan revealing small nodule on lower right
