Spinal cord stimulation
Hi, I need advice on who to contact in the nhs to be put forward for spinal cord stimulation. I am not a confident person and am worried I would be turned down and not have the knowledge to back myself up with knowledge and facts to show I should be considered. I don't know anyone who has had this done

Taking Thyroid meds with PBC
Hello everyone! I have a preliminary diagnosis of Papillary Thyroid cancer and they are talking to me about having my entire thyroid removed along with treatments later. My big concern, aside from the cancer diagnosis, is how the thyroid meds will work with my PBC. I have been reading horror stories

Hello all, I am new here. Don't really know where to turn at this point. I know when I had surgery these blogs helped me through it so here I am! I guess I will start at the beginning...about 6 years ago I had a bout with extreme digestive issues, rash and fatigue. I was working a lot and summed it up

Interesting research on antibodies
Was very interested by this research into how autoimmune disorders (AD) arise. My mother has rheumatoid arthritis and I have psoriasis and LS. This falls in line with the article I'm pasting from, 'When the immune system goes on the attack'. "Hal Scofield, Professor of Medicine at the University of Oklahoma's

GP's ignorance
A couple of months ago I posted that I had been diagnosed with PBC in 1999 via having elevated AMAs, but have since been in the care of my GP . During that time I have had no treatment whatsoever , despite steadily worsening LFTs, with considerably raised Alk Phos and GGT and symptoms of intense itching

Brompton visit
Well, we did it. Pete, myself and our daughter went by train to London to visit the Brompton, wheelchair and all. The doctor there was very nice and discussed Pete's problems. She thinks the sarcoidosis has long since burnt itself out but Pete now has to deal with what is left behind. He has copd and

ANCA and ANA positive
I've been ill for about 8 years, recently we've been leaning towards lupus. My ANA is 1:1280 and has been for a while, but I'm told my ANCA is now weakly positive? I'm not really sure what this means. Symptom wise I get rashes, severe joint pain, pain while breathing and breathlessness, oral and nasal

Positive ANCA with positive ANA
My ANA is 1:1280 - and has been for a while, but i just found out the ANCA test was weakly positive? What does this mean? I am still working on getting a full diagnosis (I've been ill for about 8 years) and we have been leaning towards lupus, but the ANCA is not an indicator for lupus is it?

Lupus or Lyme?
I was diagnosed with Lupus in 2012 with strongly positive ANA results. I have the fatigue, joint pain, mouth ulcers etc. I am on Hydroxychloroquine. The onset was quite sudden and followed menopause. However, I had also been working in long grass for some time-a place likely to contain ticks. My question

Marvelous Metformin
Why not to scoff at Metformin! Two weeks on Metformin to try and control the killing cravings for bread, pasta and all things chocolate - or faux chocolate, as in Kit Kat, Snickers, Twirl, Flake and the ridiculously priced hard chocolate caramels I can go through in a oner, and I can honestly say it
