Is this Scabies?
Please tell me if this looks like scabies? This is right under the armpit. I have tried to crop and focus on the problem area but can share another version of this photo if it is not clear. I am morbidly obese so a lot of skin stretching is happening.

Association between different water iodine exposures & thyroid cancer: A retrospective study of high water iodine areas in China 2009-20
There are many differences between China and the UK. Including other aspects of water quality/analysis, diet, etc. For example, distribution of selenium in China is very complicated with adjacent areas sometimes have very different selenium intake. Therefore, we simply cannot pick up this paper and apply

I'm Steve and live in Western Kentucky, near Evansville, Indiana. We live in my husband's hometown - moved here two years ago from the Sacramento, California, region. Wife getting MMR vaccine booster - isolate or not?
I'm an SLL patient, 55 years old, now about 2.5 years into remission after 6 FCR treatments. I just recovered from a recent (and thankfully mild) bout of shingles. My shingles was so mild that my GP wasn't convinced it actually was shingles! She had me tested for herpes zoster antibodies, and for good

Peeing , what to do?
My husband has had issues with peeing for years ( probably why stage 4 at diagnosis, cause blamed BPH) . He recently finished last chemo 3 weeks ago and is again noticing a change when peeing. Says that he feels a great deal of pressure towards the end of the pee stream and feels like the end of his

What is Melanoma?
Melanoma begins in melanocytes – the cells that produce the pigment melanin that colours the skin, hair and eyes. Melanocytes also form moles, where melanoma often, but not always develops. These cancerous growths develop when unrepaired DNA damage to skin cells (most commonly caused by over-exposure

Advice please...
My fibro always gets worse in cold weather so bath soaks are my best friends at the moment, however, my boiler and heating stopped working few days ago, I called my housing association and they fixed the heaters, but for hot water I was told its not considered emergency as you can boil kettles of water

Hi there - does anyone here have experience with an aquablation procedure to improve urinary symptoms? My father is considering it. Looking for advice for my newly diagnosed dad
Hello, I was wondering if you can offer some thoughts on my dad’s situation. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in February after a week in hospital with urine retention. A Ct scan he had in hospital showed 2 small mets in pelvic area. He’s had a biopsy which showed Gleason 4 +5 and his PSA in hospital

PBC and nails / gel polish / acrylic
hi everyone, just a quick question.. I wondered has anyone had any issues with having their nails done with gel polish. I had to switch from gel polish to acrylic as my nails kept having a reaction to the gel - and often developed a fungal infection. Once I switched to acrylic they were much better

90% of skin cancer is preventable!
1 in 4 men and 1 in 5 women will be diagnosed with skin cancer in the UK. With up to 90% of cases being preventable it seems ludicrous that the estimated annual burden on the NHS is £500 million!!!!! It’s not rocket science! It’s a no-brainer - Education is key to combatting the disease and SAVING

EBRT - Is it the right thing and what to expect?
After DX in November 2018 with Stage IV and Gleason of 5+4 and 4+5, and 5 years of ADT of Lupron (then Orgovyx), prednisone 5mg, and Zytiga 250mg with low fat breakfast, my PSA stayed stable at 0.4 or 0.5. At end of 2013, PSA started rising to latest value of 0.84. Had PSMA PET Scan March 5, 2024

Chose Cosmetic surgeon to check mole or wait 4 months for dermatologist?
How can I ascertain, whether the skin lesion at the ear lobe is indeed Basal Cell Cancer as suspected by dermatologist after visual and manual inspection of the area and referred me urgently because of somewhat unclear colour. So only 16 weeks wait instead of 2 years My private health insurance

Lauren detects skin cancer on her mother through undertaking the Masced course
“I have been in the beauty industry since 2017 and first completed Skcin’s MASCED Accreditation in Sept 2019 after delving into specialising in skin treatments. On 9th June this year I noticed a change in my mums mole on the back of her arm, everything about this particular mole looked alarming.

nose rec onstruction
I recently had a successful procedure to remove an SCC from the right side of my nose. This meant that I also had about 50% of the right side also removed. I am waiting for 9 sessions of radiotherapy and when that is over and my skin has settled I then have to make a decision on future treatment: 1
