I have a small node on my lung that hs grown 1 mm in the last year. My pulmonary Dr. suggests removal via surgery or treatment with radiation. Before radiation I must have a biopsy in order for medicare to pay for it. I am inclined towards the biopsy and radiation treatment. I asked my radiologist if the radiation doesn't work, can I then do the surgical solution. He said yes. My urologist said that operating on radiated tissue is problematic and that may not be the best solution. So I'm in a quandry. Does anyone know if a radiated lung can be resectioned?

Question regarding lung surgery vs radiation
why are you consulting your urologist about a lung tumour?
I am in the midst of this decision and the lung issue was discovered via my prostate cancer, though unlikely related to it. I happened to have an appmnt yesterday with him and asked him about it. I just thought he'd have some information. I do not know a lung surgeon and my pulmonary guy is favoring surgery, though he said either choice is mine.
There have been cases where PCa metastasis can happen and people end up with prostate cancer in the lung.
Neither my pulmonary doc or urologist believes the lung node is metastasized PC since the PC was not outsie the prostate (stage 2/3) and, thus far in remission from the RT. So I have to decide whether to get surgery which has a harder recovery time or radiation (a biopsy and 5 treatments). I really don't want surgery and will do it as a last resort, unless there is no last resort, which is the purpose of my initial question.
