Hello everyone I had to register an account just so I could post this. I'm 26yrs old.

Everything started April 8th I woke up with a very sore muscle and pain and then a week after that I started to feel pain in the back of my head. Like pressure and then my neck as well and with blurry vision and I've gone for a couple of tests glucose B12 CBC complete blood count, liver, kidney test, ECG, xray of heart and lungs and they all came back normal noticed that I'm losing weight and everything came back normal. Except Vitamin D deficiency which the doctor said doesn't account for all the symptoms I'm feeling.

So I requested a CT scan which I have on Monday (took a month to wait for this) however I've been checking Google for information and it can be so depressing reading all that. So I came across this website that talks about anxiety and some of the symptoms and I just wanted to know if there's anyone going through the same. Most related posts I find here dates back to 3 or 4 years ago.

I've never felt this way in my entire life and I'm not on any medication except Tylenol which hasn't relieved it that much.

You can imagine what I'm already worried about.

Thank you,

Hello I'm so sorry you're going through this! The doctor you went to it's just your general practitioner? Or have you gone to a neurologist? I hope the CT scan shed some light on things. I was having issues a long time ago not as bad as yours but I had also an MRI done as well as a CT scan. I have a friend who also had a lot of symptoms but had been sick just prior to getting these symptoms had a fever and had tests ran turns out it was an autoimmune thing. Autoimmune diseases apparently can have all kinds of impact. So maybe test for autoimmune I think it's called an a n a test that also does a lot of different subtests. I don't know anything about it but maybe try that as well? I can imagine you are very concerned that is really scary especially at your age. I hope they get to the bottom of things. Also it doesn't look like they did an echocardiogram? I know you're young but there can be genetic things so maybe have your heart checked out as well. Hope things get resolved soon take care!

Hello Lasouris,

Thank you very much for the quick reply.

I dont have a family doctor and have been going back and forth to the ER since April. (7 times now) also been going to a work in clinic, and that's where the GP ordered some additional blood work with the CT scan scheduled for Monday.

I haven't been referred to a Neurologist yet.

I am just hoping the CT scan doesn't come back with some terrible results.

I'll talk to the doctor about the a n a test as suggested.

I only had an ECG. I'll ask for an Echocardiogram as well.

I used to be a very jovial and happy girl. Never been sick for 6 years. And now all of this is making me so depressed and cant even socialize any longer.

As much as this is hard to say, I have to admit that I dont know what feeling normal feels like any longer.

I just pray and hope I feel normal again very soon.

Finally, we had the sun after about 2 weeks of not seeing one. I went out and it feels all dizzy and blurry. My scalp feels so tender. Trying not to cry but my pillow has been soaked several nights for the past 2 months.

Thanks alot for the advise and recommendations.

aww I feel so bad for you. I really hope you find some relief soon I'm glad you're working in an area that at least you can get some help there or they can give you some ideas. That has to be horrible. Another thing that I wonder about a lot of women have issues with migraines and stuff around there. I don't know if you noticed that this is at all tied with that. When I was much younger I used to health issues that seem to be related to having my. To the hormones. I guess I just wonder if that might be somehow related since women sometimes get migraines around that time. I have friends who used to get them a lot when they were younger and then when they went through menopause stopped getting the migraines. And I know yours is a lot more then that. But I guess you just never know what causes what sometimes. Are you taking anything different supplement wise or has anything changed in your life are there new stressors that sort of thing I mean it could be stress-related but sounds like it's more intricate than that. Please updating here I I want to hear how you're doing. Take care

Thank you, Lasouris. I feel so encouraged.

Sorry I meant to say Walk-in Clinic.

I work in IT field. Although I always wanted to be a Neurosurgeon however along the line I picked up a passion for Computers. And I always tell myself maybe God wants me to work on Computer brains instead of Humans. I've always enjoyed what I do.

Now for the past 2 months, one of the depressing thoughts has been maybe I should have been a Neurosurgeon and I'd have figured this out already. I try to snap out of that thought each time I remember it.

I'm glad I finally have a place to pour out my mind.

Yes I hear about Migraines but I've never had it or at least maybe I dont know if that's what I'm currently experiencing.

But aren't the symptoms of migraine more subtle than what I'm feeling? I know I've had aura about 3 times now since when all of this started, I get to see some purple zigzag lines for about 15 minutes.

I dont even know how migraine is diagnosed, but if that's what is happening then I'll be shocked that the doctors are still yet to figure it out.

I'm not someone to take supplements however ever since this started on April 8th, I bought the one a day multivitamins supplement for women, I took that for 5 days and since I didnt feel better, I stopped.

The only supplement I'm on now is Vitamin D which I've only taken for 4 days. Since they just figured out on Wednesday that I was Vitamin D deficient.

Also regarding stress, I've been a bit stressed lately due to work but I always ensure I get relaxed before going to bed.

I'm just surprised if this is due to stress, because I've been a lot more stressed in my life than right now. 2016 to 2017 I was a Masters student and was also working. It was really tough and hard but I never fell sick.

I feel bad that now that I'm close to clearing my school tuition and look forward to enjoying my salary, then all of this is happening.

Sorry for the long note, but this does help to settle my mind a bit.

Thank you

Hi, I’m sorry to hear what you’re going through. My story is similar. I’ve had many hospital tests. All normal. I’ve also lost weight. My main symptoms are leg weakness, muscle aching in chest and back, sternum pain, blurred vision in one eye, head pressure. My doctor thinks Costochondritis and anxiety. I’ve had it 3 months. Before that fully fit and healthy. I’m having lots of other tests to check there is nothing else going on. I saw a neurologist and he mentioned chronic migraine which sounded bizarre to me, as a headache isn’t always present. It’s more grogginess. Hope you get some respite from it soon.

Hi Jane,

Thank you for your kind words.

I'm sorry to read that you're going through something similar.

It's so sad seeing how things change in just seconds. The night before I woke up sore, I was all happy and dancing in an event.

Ever since that night, each time I smile till date, I only force myself to do so. I used to be very happy and jovial. It hurts to keep using the word "used to". I hope that things change for the better very soon.

I agree I am anxious, especially because of the CT scan I have planned for Monday.

I used to have all the symptoms you mentioned however the leg weakness (often used to have this every morning) has disappeared since last week. I no longer wake up with the sore muscles. Before this dissapeared, I used to drink hot cup ginger every morning for a week. Not sure if that's what helped, but you can try it.

However, for a week now the new symptoms that's been added to all I mentioned in my earlier post is the burning sensation in my right foot. And I'm not diabetic. I'm reading about nerve damage or something but I'm not sure how that could have happened. Also I dont experience any numbness.

I used to experience tingling down my spine for the first 5 weeks when this started, but that stopped. The tingling happened whenever I think of doing something or carrying out a task.

These 2 months has felt like a year and I could go on and on.

However, in all, I believe that we will be fine soon. Find strength in the fact that we used to have better lives and we can still have better lives.

Cant believe I'm saying all this encouraging words. Hopefully I dont drench my pillows in tears tonight.

Thank you

Hi Jane,

I wanted to check in to see how you are doing?

Do you feel better since our last discussion? Also were you able to try the hot ginger and did it make any significance difference?

Remain strong

in reply toIamhealedAmen

Hi actually it's kind of weird cuz there was a person on here from 4 years ago I Googled your symptoms to see what came up and somebody else a year older than you had a similar thing going on and it looks like a lot of people around the same age said they were having the similar symptoms that she was having and she had an MRI and I think it said she had a CT scan . Somebody came up with what they thought it was I didn't read all through all the replies cuz there were quite a few were over 300. But if you take the subject line of your post and Google it it'll come up.

These are her symptoms

"Mysterious 24/7 head pressure, head pain, dizziness, headrushes, hungover feeling, fatigue, brain fog, pins and needles, ear fullness."

Try copying and pasting that into Google and it should come up. It's not the same as yours but very similar and just seemed odd that so many people around your age had that same sort of thing. Well I hope the results of the CT scan are clear but then you still won't know what it is. But please go back and read that to see if that might give you any ideas.

Hello,

Thank you very much. I took time to go through the thread and it's been very helpful. I'll still continue reading it before the CT scan tomorrow.

It's just surprising how alot of people are experiencing the same thing and there seems to be no doctor that can confirm exactly what's happening.

I am really hoping the scan tomorrow is fine. Although I also hope that a solution is found as soon as possible for this feeling so I can go back to my normal self or even better.

Thank you very much again for the encouraging words. I'll keep you posted of the outcome.

Cheers

Thanks Gerrerd,

I agree they could be stress related but I've rested for 2 months now. I mean, I leave work at 5 now, unlike before when I stay late.

I go to the gym at least 4 times a week. I sleep at least 9hours now.

Also I noticed most people say they started experiencing this when they started going to the gym. I started experiencing this about 2 weeks after going back to the gym.

I just hope things get better soon.

IamhealedAmen in reply toLucky253

I'm sorry to hear that you've been going through the same thing.

I never knew about Chronic Migraines until recently. Never imagined that Migraine could be that severe.

The weird thing is mine doesn't come with a headache, just the pressure. I've only had an headache in the past 2 months 2 or 3 times. But every other symptoms you mentioned has been there. Always seems like the intensity of the pressure determines how blurry my vision is.

I just completed the CT scan and I'm so worried and hope they don't find an issue. At the same time I hope we all get better from all these.

Result will be out in 2 business days.

I would never think that anxiety can cause all these symptoms, however reading about it on this forum has changed my perspective.

I'm just wondering even if these were to be some weird hormonal changes, should that have to go on for 2 months?

Wanna cry😥😥

Hello All,

As promised- just wanted to update here that the results of the CT scan came out as clear, and normal.

No abnormalities found. Which is a relieve but still the head pressure is there. The only thing I noticed since Saturday is, it doesn't come on frequently or as painful as it used to. Its constant for the entire day and mild. But this morning when I woke up the intensity was more and it's been like that all day.

Even with the clear CT scan I have requested to speak with a Neurologist which I was told will take about 3 to 6 months. But I still requested it. Hopefully I am completely well before then.

I may also go to the ER to request an MRI.

Also just a quick question. The CT that was requested by my GP was Non enhanced, would that have made any difference if it was enhanced? Not doubting just asking.

I hope we all get better from this.

Good thing also, my appetite has improved and I hope it gets better. 😥

Hi amhealed...I glad to hear the CT scan came out normal. If there were a problem, it would have shown up even non enhanced. Head pressure is something that I had

dealt with for a long time at the beginning of my anxiety. I had gone to a Rheumatologist

who ordered physical therapy which helped greatly in reducing the pressure. Just a

thought while you are waiting for the Neurologist (who I also saw) My best to you :) xx

Hello Agora,

Ahhh I see. Thank you very much for explaining that. I am relieved about that too.

Thanks for the advise. I'll see if I can find one. Do I need to be referred by a GP to a rheumatologist or I can just go see one?

Also, did you have to make any changes to your diet?

Thank you for writing 😊😊

Agora1 profile image
Agora1 in reply toIamhealedAmen

Needing a referral for a specialist is all about your insurance. My insurance

allows me to see anyone I want. So you'd have to check into that.

The reason I saw a Rheumatologist was because I had trigger points in my

shoulders and base of my neck and head. They needed to be worked out

to relieve that pressure feeling.

As for diet, no I never made any changes since I already eat healthy meals

short of my love for sweets. x

IamhealedAmen profile image
IamhealedAmen in reply toAgora1

Thank you, Agora.

I checked my insurance and it covers it.

I'll take the step to see one too. To see what could be triggering the pressure.

Thanks for the details regarding diet. I also eat healthy and do cheat days only once in a while😀 Was asking because I read/some of my colleagues said if this is a migraine, there's likely a trigger and maybe a particular food/meal causing it.

lol I guess we all love sweets😀😀😀

I stopped taking raw sugar, soda etc about a year ago.

So do you still have any symptoms?

Thanks again.

Hi I am healed Amen (LOVE your user name!)

So sorry you've been going through so much! So glad the CT was negative:) If this turns out to be chronic migraines, feel free to PM me. I'm getting a PhD in chronic migraines - no not really, but it feels like it:) One of my teens is dealing with it and I have learned so much in the last 6 months since her migraines turned chronic. Just so you know, yes, your symptoms could be just that or another kind of headache issue. All are benign (harmless). The good news is that there are many great approaches/treatments that are highly effective for people (ie Agora mentioned one). In fact, there are many new great approaches to pain management in general, not just migraine. Sending you lots of support, encouragement, hugs and prayers 🤗🙏🏻

IamhealedAmen in reply toCalm_mama

Thank you very much, calm mama. Nice name too😀

I am also sorry to hear what you and your teen have been going through for 6 months now. Wow.

Can I ask 2 silly questions? The questions have been bothering me especially since many people think this could be migraine (Chronic Migraine)

1. Is it possible to not have Migraine before and to wake up one day to have a Chronic Migraine? (I mean by passing the subtle migraine)? Cos I've never had a migraine before now.

2. How is Migraine diagnosed? Especially since the CT was clear. How would a Neurologist diagnose one. Yet to get clarity on this one as well.

Also did your daughter experience this almost everyday in the last 6 months? And was it an headache +pressure? (I dont get the headache just some weird pressure that at times goes to my scalp)

Sorry to bug you with my questions.

I will also appreciate any information you can provide that will help ease this moment of pain, stress and anxiety.

Thank you very much for the support, encouragement, hugs and prayers. Sending mine too🤗♥️

Regards to your daughter and I hope she's much better now.

Cheers😊

Calm_mama profile image
Calm_mama in reply toIamhealedAmen

Hi!

Not silly questions! Absolutely see a doc to sort all this out. You have other symptoms in addition to the headache so it's crucial that you work with your doc(s) to figure it out. The sooner you can get this done, the better, only because I think it will give you enormous piece of mind.

So sorry, I don't have answers to questions 1 and 2! I have become knowledgable on the treatment side of things, as there was never a question that my daughter was having migraines back to age 9. Again, the neurologist can help you get the answers to your questions. Feel free to circle back to me if this in fact is migraine and you're looking to understand the approaches and treatments. I can also recommend a couple of good groups to join for support/information at that point.

Don't be surprised if every part of your workup is normal and they come back with anxiety and nothing else. Anxiety causes the nervous system to become sensitized (harmless) and this creates so, so many symptoms which can be very intense and frightening to people when they don't understand what is going on. They then add fear (second fear) to the primary fear and it intensifies the physical symptoms exponentially.

One thing I'll suggest based on everything you said- did the docs check a thyroid level? You didn't list that one. That one is a must. When thyroid levels are out of whack, any and all physical symptoms are possible.

I wish I could be more help at this stage of things. I hear the concern in your "voice". Try to stay loose and "float on the waves" as you go through this difficult waiting period to see a specialist. Adding fear is normal under these circumstances, of course, but you will feel better head to toe if you can loosen to the best of your ability, breathe deep and often, and know that you have lots of support and understanding with all these great people here. xo

IamhealedAmen profile image
IamhealedAmen in reply toCalm_mama

This is so sweet.

Thank you very much for writing.

I feel so relieved with the encouraging words and advise.

I'll follow suit as advised.

Yes I actually did get a thyroid test done. It was one of the first sets of test I did when all of these started and the doctor said it was normal.

However I just got a call from the clinic saying that the doctor is requesting that I come in regarding one of my previous bloodwork. (So now I'm scared, calm but scared lol about which one of it. Cos I was told they all came back normal)

I'll go there tomorrow morning and update the group of any findings. I've been a lot calmer today and receiving this call just raised my adrenaline level. And I had a break from an exam I'm writing and preparing to go back in shortly. 😥

Thank you for your prayers and support 😊

Hi dont know if this relates to you but I've felt most of your symptoms for over ten years doctor sent me for heart tests ,stress tests ,every kind of tests were coming back fine so they settled on that I had anxiety and that I was prone to palpitations,..which I accepted for a while and tried to live with it ,at the back of my mind I knew there was something else wrong with me ,started internet searching myself and came across sleep apena seemed to have a lot of the symptoms asked my doctor to send me for sleep test which he reluctantly did ......turns out I had sleep apena which is a very dangerous condition if left untreated....when you check yourself in the daytime everything will come up fine ,when you do sleep test and you have sleep apena totally different results...I am not saying that's what you have ,look it up and see do you have any of symptoms and if so get yourself checked out .!!

IamhealedAmen in reply toPabull

Hello Pabull,

Thank you for writing and thanks for actually bringing up the discussion around sleep apnea.

When all of these symptoms initially started that was one of the causes that Google was pointing me to. However I didn't follow suit with that as I wasnt experiencing some of the other symptoms that were listed.

Since the beginning of this year, I've woken up in the middle of the night holding my breathe (7 or 8 times). It usually feels like I've been running or haven't been breathing for a while.

I don't know if that's what this means.

I'm seeing the doctor tomorrow and will bring it to his attention for possible test.

Thank you again for the suggestion.

Hi,

A few months ago I had exactly the same symptoms you are experiencing, along with regular panic attacks. Took me by surprise, never had anything like this in my life. I had many checks, all came back clear and eventually a head scan which also came back clear. The doctor offered me antidepressants, beta blockers and Valium. I refused as it wasn't for me. Couldn't quite believe it was anxiety as I didn't feel like I was an anxious character. I'm also 26yrs old. I got a bit too obsessed with googling symptoms, which made me feel worse. After therapy, meditation, healthy diet and some CBD oil I managed to stop the symptoms in 3 months. The panic attacks gave me some nerve damage, still waiting for that to heal. I learnt through therapy things can get 'stored' in your subconscious, so even if your quite a logical person your 'non' thoughts can creep up on you. In the end it was as though my body stopped me in my tracks, and made me pause on life for a moment to make some changes. I'm still shocked at how your brain can cause so many physical symptoms! Looking back I was sad and anxious but didn't even know it! I feel for you! If it is anxiety, you have a lot coming :D But its a good thing in the end!

IamhealedAmen profile image
IamhealedAmen in reply toAbsmister

Hi Absmaster,

Thank you for writing. You typically explained all that I've been through.

I've never had anything like this in my life too, hence the reason I guess all of these triggered some fight or flight feelings in my body which has sort of resulted to anxiety. (I still find it hard to believe that I have anxiety or that symptoms of anxiety can be this severe and many. But with things I've learnt on this forum, I am surely adjusting that perspective)

Thank you for all the suggestions. One of the doctors had also prescribed antidepressants for me, but I refused since he was yet to find a diagnosis for what is going on in my body. I dont want to be pushed away with an antidepressant, when maybe they should be looking closely.

Anyways, let's see how my discussion with the doctor goes tomorrow. If everything boils than to anxiety, then I guess I have alot of people on this forum to learn from and lean on for guidance.😥😊

The mind is honestly powerful. I ignored some of the abdominal symptoms I previously had. And for a week I haven't felt it. However after I received the call today about the doctor wanting to see me regarding the blood work (I had previously done) the pain in my abdomen started almost immediately. The moment I thought "could that be the reason he wants to see me "?

This is all so weird and new to me.

I feel more peaceful and relaxed ever since I joined this forum. And one reason is because, I noticed there are 2 major kinds of people here, 1. People who have been through what I'm going through and pulled through with resilience + sharing their past experiences with guidance.

2. People currently going through same thing as me, and also fighting it hard to win. While fighting, also giving advices and guidance.

Need I also mention people who have been through or maybe not been through this but still here to offer advises, guidance, support and encouragement. You all are a blessing!

These 3 sets of people are my biggest motivation.

Btw does anyone here, when they hold their phone, feel their pulse strongly? Or feel like there's some dripping sound inside of you which happens to be your heart beat?

Thank you again!

in reply toIamhealedAmen

Hi I'm glad the CT scan came out okay but must still be frustrating not knowing what the issue is. But it sounds like it's gotten a little better? I sometimes hear dripping in my head I think it's my sinuses dripping but other than that no. I do feel my pulse strongly sometimes what time is it in my fingers. Sometimes my chest seems to be beating heavier but not sure if that's what you're referring to. I hope you're feeling better.

IamhealedAmen profile image
IamhealedAmen in reply to

Hi Lasouris,

Looks like you deactivated your account. 😥

I hope you're doing well!

I dont even know if I'm feeling better. But I know I've seen better days in the past 3 weeks.

For example, I've gone 5 days completely symptoms free. With none of the symptoms I tagged in my subject. And without doing anything differently.

And then some days it just comes back rushing out of no where. I am currently experiencing the dizzy spell, light sensitivity and neck palpitations feeling. (People tell me this is probably migraine) but is it possible to have this almost everyday?

I noticed that the week I had my periods, 3 days before then, it was so severe. I vomited almost every morning. Especially the head pressure was so severe. I was almost crying saying I was just fine 5 days ago.

During my period it sort of subsided. The head pressure, light sensitivity, foggy feeling, neck pain (muscle tension) etc. After my period, I had 3 days without any of those feelings and now it's back.

I'm just trying to nail down the root cause of all this, but cant seem to figure it out.

I haven't been to the clinic since the weekend of June 3rd. As all the tests has come back normal, I have tried to just relax my mind as much as possible.

I was on vacation last weekend and didnt enjoy it as much as I usually would all because of the foggy feeling.

I am yet to get an appointment with a neurologist, but I'm sure looking forward to that.

Btw, I remember posting here that I got a call to come back to the clinic. It was apparently a false alarm. The nurse didnt check the date of my last appointment and was calling me for an appointment I already had. Which came out as Vitamin D deficiency.

Anyways, let me pause here. Any words of encouragement will be helpful. Right now I think I've been convinced to see this as anxiety as I dont know how else to explain this.

Besides, I'm afraid I'll lose control if I start taking the pills. I react alot to pills.

And even without taking any pills, there are days I feel emotionally detached from my family and friends. So this scares me.

Could anxiety cause emotional detachment and lack of empathy?
