Why do people always say anxiety is a mental health condition I just dislike that word, it's makes me feel so bad , just thinking of mental health makes me want to shout I don't have a mental health issue even though it maybe true.

Mental health issues

I second that Littlecook..I have never considered myself in having a mental health condition.
I didn't like the words either. I think that comes from years back when people always
put a hush on psychiatric issues. Movies made those patients seem as if they were crazy.
It seemed easier to tell myself that I was high strung, Type A person. What we think of
ourselves is what we get and I'd rather think of myself as having a caring sensitive
personality. Maybe it's a way of fooling myself. Throughout the years of my struggling
with Anxiety as well as Agoraphobia, I always maintained that I would and I could get
out of this situation by treating it as a physically caused malady that affected our feelings.
You'll never catch me saying I suffer from mental health. xx
I agree Littlecook. I don’t have mental illness just anxiety. It’s hard when we’re sent to a Psychiatrist for medication as people assume that means mental illness. They’re two very separate issues. I was reading that over 70% of the world suffer from some degree of anxiety. I’m glad you brought this up…it’s important for people to know how normal and common anxiety is and not fall into the trap of thinking that means they are mentally ill. It’s just nerves and coping with stress, that’s not mental illness👍xx
Everyone has anxiety, it actuallly keeps you alive. In some way we should be thankfull we have anxiety it is probably the reason we are here today at all. Our issue is excess anxiety that impacts our life. It is probably even worse to have no anxiety at all because you would do extremely dangerous things without thinking about it. It is about quality of life, we want our quality of life back. Wishing you peace and health.
I totally agree it makes it sound like it is something weird I do think things are better though now than it was
I tell people and I don't care now what they think I never used to be like it I used to feel so ashamed of suffering from anxiety
It is talked about so openly now and I think if people aren't kind and understanding then it's their problem and ignorance
All the best
Acutely anxiety is a mental illness…I have it and it’s not easy..
