Pristiq vs effexor

Has anyone tried both Effexor and pristiq? I have tried just about every antidepressant with no luck and unfortunately may have to resort to ECT, but I really don't want to if I don't have to. I have been on Effexor with no luck and my psychiatrist is now recommending pristiq. From what I understand it is essentially the same medication apart from cost and side effects. Anyone have success with pristiq after Effexor failed? Hoping for some positivity

I'm sorry your others have not worked for you...I don't know anything about this other medication...I hope you get some relief with it....

My previous PCP put me on Effexor and I was miserable, she kept on increasing the dosage. The therapist I was seeing talked me into going to a psychiatrist to manage my meds. The dose was to high and it took a month to wean off of Effexor. I was panicked, I was afraid to become addicted. I am on Zoloft now. I don’t know the other drug you mentioned
