Food supplements I hope will help

I had: PSA 30, Gleason 10, PCa Stage 4 localized to pelvic region.

Treated with IMRT radiation + Eligard + Abiraterone. PSA undetectable.

Stopped Abiraterone due liver that hates it (liver is ok).

Will try Nubeqa, and may switch to Orgovyx after Eligard runs out in December.

While ADT starves the cancer, I am taking some food supplements to help with side effects. I tried to select "healthy" supplements that may fight prostate cancer as well.

I've included links to a paper on each. Any feedback welcome.

John actually my hospital advice is 80 grams protein and switch to plant based diet, 1/3 fruits, 1/3 veggies and 1/3 protein. Kind of hard to do constantly, if you want resveratrol eat red grapes

Resveratrol is rumoured to work well with Turmeric and ursolic acid, however my oncology pharmacist says the tumeric and resveratrol have a negative effect on aberaterone. Who knows, it's a minefield.

Taking food supplements may benefit you, depending on what and how much you take. Some can also be toxic at higher dosages. It’s often a guessing game .

Exercise for side effects is far more effective.

Turkeytail and other mushrooms are purported to be helpful. I've started drinking Ryze coffee ryzesuperfoods.com/ in the morning. Mud/wtr coffee also contains these healthy mushrooms. mudwtr.com/

Rather than just throwing "Supplement" darts at the wall, I would talk to a good naturopath about your specific situation and let them make some recommendations just for you. I wish you the best.

swwags profile image

yes because their medical training is so very very extensive. Why trust a bottle label when someone can tell you in person what to take?

Professorgary profile image

yes and a good one will send out stool and hair samples for analysis. Pretty sure most naturopaths will give magnesium and curcumin a thumbs up.

I'm apathetic to being naturopathic.

Prostaphane. A food supplement with broccoli seeds extract titrated in free and stabilized sulforaphane has had successful results.

Prostaphane? Isn't that the clear plastic wrap used for wrapping your left over food in the frig?

Plastic food wrap is commonly made from polyvinyl chloride. Cellophane is commonly used as a packaging material. Sorry, no humor in that.

j-o-h-n profile image
j-o-h-n in reply to Brad70

Thanks,

I remember Cellophane............ It goes like this, Betty Davis speaking: "Peter, Peter why are you wearing those Cellophane shorts? I always knew you were crazing but now I can see your nuts".

(you guys must hate me..... but I just gotta or I won't be able to sleep tonight)
