SARMs and creatine...which are basically the only two things that could help maintaining muscle mass while we have no testosterone

Combined with a proper workout program the above are effective in building muscle in a short amount of time. Been on them for years

no problem...but we are a sample of one, even the smallest risk stops me till I have a definitive answer, your situation is anecdotal not statistical, but good for you!👍👍👍

Ya my MO approved of it so off to the races I go. I am also of the belief that I Don't need to "micromanage" my cancer, it will take me when it is ready and I accept that and no longer fear the beast. We are all different

Yes, I think we all settle into a similar attitude over time, although our specific conditions, symptoms, regimens, and development of that attitude are different.

The only thing that can maintain muscle mass while we have no testosterone is weight bearing exercise. SARMs and creatine give a small assist to that, nothing more. Those products alone won’t make any difference.

yes, obviously I meant together with exercise 👍 not even steroids work if you don't exercise

You should see my before and after measurements I am testament to the muscle building power of SARMS and 6 days a week lifting heavy in the gym. Body builders use it for a reason

I believe you! Fortunately I’ve recovered T and training alone is fine for me. Good to know though, should I have to return to ADT.

Hi! I am 8 months into ADT and abi, arm and shoulder muscles stay painful all the time now - am trying to just use light-medium resistance bands until I feel good enough to go back to weights - any observations? Thx

Maybe add supplements like Creatine and BCAA's. For muscle pain my trainer has me use KT Tape. It is the tape you see pro athletes use. Cheap and super effective, the theory behind it is interesting. Have used for years with videos available for proper tape placement. I too started light training with HIIT then went to weights to see better results. As with anything you put in your body check with you Oncologist first. Mine is super knowledgeable about all kinds of supplements including SARMS

Thx - I use a scoop of EAA plant based protein on gym days and may try also adding HMB before hitting the creatine. I dont want it to get too complicated.

I know one member on this forum who saw a increase of PSA on SARMS and a decrease when he stopped it. Also anecdotal but interesting. I'll stick with just execise myself for now.

I know him as well! And that's one of the reasons why I am avoiding creatine and SARMs till at least there will be some consistent studies.

My results were the opposite, brought down PSA when I started and gave me a year and a half when ADT failed. MO approves of SARMS because it was originally designed as cancer drug for PC. Everyone's body is different

Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators, a chemical that targets specific parts of your body, much like a key fits into a specific lock. They are designed to mimic the effects of testosterone. A bit like steroids, but targeted, not systemic. They focus primarily on muscles and bones without affecting other parts of the body as much. They are popular among bodybuilders because way less harmful than steroids. But the fact that they are targeted also to bones in case you already have bone metastasis (like I do) could not be a great idea. But we will know more soon as there should be a trial focused on that

There are already studies that confirm that creatine is of help with prostate cancer patients for their training routine to preserve muscle and has also some anti-cancer effect. My doubt is only about when bone metastasis are already present. As with many vitamins/minerals/supplements, their role changes and something that is preventive can become cancer promoting, according to the stage of the disease

On the days that I go to the gym, I take both a scoop of creatine and a scoop of a protein shake that contains HMB. The latter does not help younger men but it is supposed to help older men and I believe it has benefitted me in my training though I could not quantify by how much. While I was on ADT, it felt like my muscles would not ache as much and for as long after lifting weights.

This has been my experience with creatine also—less muscle soreness after weight lifting (I’m the wife).

We also take a scoop of EAAs after workouts—essential amino acids. But had to look for a brand with no sugar substitutes.

I also tried BCAA but after a few days I realized it was kicking me out of ketosis so I gave up on that one.
