Updated Results on Armour

Hi everyone,

Following up on my previous post, I eliminated T3 Liothyronine 25 mcg from my current Armour 150 mg dosage (1/2 tablet of 300 mg early morning).

Here are my recent results: Tested 10 hrs after I took my half dosage of Armour:

TSH (mIU/L) 0.01 Range: 0.40-4.50

T4 (THYROXINE), TOTAL (mcg/dL) 5.9 Range: 4.5-10.9

T4, FREE (ng/dL) 1.3 Range: 0.8-1.8

T3, FREE (pg/mL) doctor refused to order it

T3, TOTAL (ng/dL) 161 Range: 71-180

FERRITIN (ng/mL) 77 Range: 38-380

Vitamin B12 (pg/mL) 437 Range: 200-1100

Folate, Serum (ng/mL) 18.1 Range>5.4 normal

Vitamin D, (25 OH VIT D (Total) 40 Range 20 -80

Vitamin B1,(nmol/L) 121 Range 70 -180

I have been taking 150 mg of Armour just one-time early morning.

I would say I'm still having fatigue, brain fog, lack of motivation symptoms.

I'm not taking any supplements right now, but sometimes, I take 10,000 IU of vitamin D, maybe two or three times a week.

What do you think about these results? I'm thinking of adding 5 mcg of liothyronine

I recently visited another doctor who did not recommend Armour. Instead, he prescribed Tirosent 150 mg and 5 mcg of Liothyronine. However, after switching to those medications, my chest pain returned after three days. It was located on the left side of my chest, near the middle, and was similar to the pain I had experienced for years without explanation when I was on Levothyroxine. I was not aware that the pain was caused by T4 Levothyroxine, and multiple doctors had recommended painkillers for the pain. However, after switching back to T4 medication, I realized that the pain was indeed caused by the T4 medication. Long story short, once I stopped taking T4 medication, the chest pain went away. I took that combo (tirosent and liothyronine for only 3 days); that was late Feb.

I see that you're in the US. Is it possible for you to buy a private blood test to show your FT3? We would need to see that to understand where your FT3 level is currently and think about what you need.

Ferritin should be around 90 - 100 for best use of thyroid hormone. Suggest increasing iron rich foods in diet and eating them often. Chicken livers, pate, red meat etc

B12 needs to be 500+ for serum B12. Suggest a good methyl B complex. See attached label for Thorne Basic B. These are the amounts of B vitamins that you need to match with a supplement.

Ok thank you. Yes I can test my Free T3 on my own in any private lab.

Hey there again :

Shame we have no Free T3 as that is the most important result of them all :

Shame you switched medication - though just for a few days - hope you are not seeing that doctor again !!

I think your vitamins and minerals need some support - on UK ranges - I now aim for a ferritin at around 100 - folate around 20 - active B12 125 ( serum B12 500 ++ ) and vitamin D around 125 : j

Rule of thumb - just look at the USA ranges and aim for around a good 50% through - though think your vitamin D range looks too low :

Can I suggest. if I haven't already, that you register on the Elaine Moore 's Graves Disease forum as it is Stateside - and if nothing else you may find a recommended specialist in Graves in your catchment area and time zone.
