Has anyone had problems with levothyroxine Aristo

Can you describe the problems it is causing you? Aristo is lactose free so some may find it better than other brands.
Hi trouble getting to sleep & staying a sleep
Just realised this is your first post so welcome to the group.
I think the more likely issue is that you aren't on high enough a dose of Levo, not so much a problem with the brand itself.
Do you have copies of your latest blood results? Ask GP reception which you are legally entitled to. In England you can get the NHS app and some surgeries offer blood results on that if you ask for access.
Have you been tested for antobodies?

hello and welcome 🤗
I have switched to Aristo from Teva, been on it 5 weeks. (125mcg) I split the tablets with a pill splitter.
I know from trying Accord I need lactose free.
I find I have less gurgling and tummy discomfort than on on Teva. My bowel movements are improved.
Although in week 1 on Aristo, I felt a bit odd/different compared to on Teva, quite hungry, that has gone away. If anything I feel a little under medicated which isn’t unusual for me in week 4-5 of a change/increase but I won’t know until I test in a couple of weeks.
I think I am less achey, less brain foggy as long as I don’t overdo it. If I do, I need a sofa day as before.
How does it make you feel?
Are you on it with diet and vitamins? I’ve worked super hard on optimising vits and following autoimmune paleo diet etc.
wishing you all the best 🌱

Aristo is a relatively recent (March 2020) addition to the levothyroxine products available in the UK.
As always, experiences and opinions vary. What I've done is compile a list of posts which mention Aristo. Some are positive; some are negative. Some simply mention Aristo in passing. This is NOT a definitive, complete list. I just add more posts when I notice them.
Note: Aristo confirmed in February 2023 they have launched a branded version (Venacamil) which is identical to the generic version. That should make it easier for a GP to prescribe. They will also be launching new dosages.

To avoid hitting posting limits in future, I have posted this information on my blog:
helvella - Aristo Levothyroxine Posts
Experiences of taking Aristo levothyroxine as posted on HealthUnlocked.

Welcome to the forum
Many people find different brands of levothyroxine are not interchangeable
Presumably you are on 100mcg dose daily?
What brand were you taking before
If Aristo doesn’t suit you request new prescription from GP and explain why
You can request GP add note added to all future prescriptions for a specific brand at each prescription
Or a note to say “ No Aristo” brand
Government guidelines for GP in support of patients if you find it difficult/impossible to change brands
gov.uk/drug-safety-update/l...
If a patient reports persistent symptoms when switching between different levothyroxine tablet formulations, consider consistently prescribing a specific product known to be well tolerated by the patient.
academic.oup.com/jcem/artic...
Physicians should: 1) alert patients that preparations may be switched at the pharmacy; 2) encourage patients to ask to remain on the same preparation at every pharmacy refill; and 3) make sure patients understand the need to have their TSH retested and the potential for dosing readjusted every time their LT4 preparation is switched (18).
Most easily available (and often most easily tolerated) are Mercury Pharma or Accord
Mercury Pharma make 25mcg, 50mcg and 100mcg tablets
Mercury Pharma also boxed as Eltroxin. Both often listed by company name on pharmacy database - Advanz
Accord only make 50mcg and 100mcg tablets
Accord is also boxed as Almus via Boots, and Northstar 50mcg and 100mcg via Lloyds ....but Accord doesn’t make 25mcg tablets
beware 25mcg Northstar is Teva
Northstar levothyroxine being phased out this month
Many patients do NOT get on well with Teva brand of Levothyroxine. Teva is lactose free.
Teva contains mannitol as a filler instead of lactose, which seems to be possible cause of problems. Mannitol seems to upset many people, it changes gut biome
Teva is the only brand that makes 75mcg tablet.
So if avoiding Teva for 75mcg dose ask for 25mcg to add to 50mcg or just extra 50mcg tablets to cut in half
But for some people (usually if lactose intolerant, Teva is by far the best option)
Aristo (currently 100mcg only) is lactose free and mannitol free.
Wockhardt is very well tolerated, but only available in 25mcg tablets. Some people remain on Wockhardt, taking their daily dose as a number of tablets
List of different brands available in U.K.
I take Aristo and have no problems. Its the only one I can take. I take it in the middle of the night when I wake up to go to the toilet and go back to sleep no problem. When I first swapped to it I has a few stomach issues but only for a week which was more likely due to all the different fillers mixing from both brands.
