Private blood test results

Hi everyone. Following my previous post, I've had some private blood tests done and here are the results.I'm on 150mg of Levo a day.

My result is after the ':' on each entry and the reference ranges are after the '/'.

It looks like the Serum Folate and Ferritin tests didn't work. I'm guessing you have to pay for those to be done again?

Looks like my TSH is high and I need some vitamin D and probably B12 I think?

Ferritin: Haemolysed / 30 - 400 ug/L

Good grief you are very under medicated

How long have you been on 150mcg levothyroxine

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine every prescription

Do you normally take levothyroxine waking or bedtime

Always on empty stomach and then nothing apart from water for at least an hour after

Approximately how much do you weigh in kilo

Was test done early morning and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

See GP and request 25mcg dose increase in levothyroxine

Thyroid levels will need retesting in 6-8 weeks time

High thyroid antibodies confirms autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto’s

Did you know you have Hashimoto’s

Have you had coeliac blood test done via GP

Are you on gluten free or dairy free diet

Vitamin levels

B12 is deficient

You need GP to test for Pernicious Anaemia before starting on any B vitamins

Request/insist GP also test folate and ferritin

Vitamin D is deficient

GP should prescribe LOADING dose vitamin D

That’s 300,000iu in total vitamin D over 6-8 weeks prescription

That’s 5000iu per day for 8 weeks or 7000iu per day for 6 weeks

NHS Guidelines on dose vitamin D required

ouh.nhs.uk/osteoporosis/use...

GP will often only prescribe to bring vitamin D levels to 50nmol.

Some areas will prescribe to bring levels to 75nmol or even 80nmol

leedsformulary.nhs.uk/docs/...

GP should advise on self supplementing if over 50nmol, but under 75nmol (but they rarely do)

mm.wirral.nhs.uk/document_u...

But with Hashimoto’s, improving to around 80nmol or 100nmol by self supplementing may be better

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/218...

vitamindsociety.org/pdf/Vit...

Once you Improve level, very likely you will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there.

retest levels vitamin D at end of loading dose

vitamindtest.org.uk

Then going forward Test twice yearly

Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is very effective as it avoids poor gut function.

There’s a version made that also contains vitamin K2 Mk7.

One spray = 1000iu

Apologies….should have reread your recent post here

No wonder you have been struggling and feeling depressed with such terrible thyroid levels

GP should have retested thyroid when blood pressure went up

Just to say I'm sorry you've been left to struggle. It's recommended we are tested at least annually by the NHS for our thyroid levels. If you're feeling bad and unwell then always contact GP and ask for thyroid function tests to be run. Sometimes they will do the vitamins but not always in which case buy the private tests.

Noone should be left feeling like you have and I really hope you can get back on track now with some amazing advice from SlowDragon.

Sorry for the late reply, I was hoping to have seen the GP so I could have given an update but I ring at 8am every morning when the phone lines open and I still can't get an appointment.I'll try to book online but there's a ten day wait for a phone call. I don't really know what to do in the meantime though.

Hey there again Dan :

Yes, you have the gist of this right for yourself but some of your levels dangerously low and need investigating first - before ' simply supplementing ' :

The high CRP reading is inflammation and showing ' over the range ' meaning your body is very upset, struggling and inflamed.

Your ferritin and folate bloods couldn't be processed - and this needs repeating - as I presume there is an issue with your blood - but don't know the issue ?

Something is wrong as you do not seem to be absorbing the T4 as your TSH is still much too high and crying out for more thyroid hormones - but very much doubt this means more T4 - Levothyroxine.

Both B12 and vitamin D need supplementing though first such a low B12 needs investigating further for pernicious anemia.

Your random cortisol readings are way off - and I'm out of my depth but thinking your adrenals are also struggling to function and you need this also further investigated through the NHS sooner rather than later.

Can you get a cancellation appointment online as well as phone up everyday ?

P.S. Are you taking any other medications other than the T4 - Levothyroxine ?

Not what you're looking for?
