Hi all,
After a few years of not having much luck getting my GP to do blood tests, they really took the biscuit a few months ago of only testing TSH and free T4 and not testing T3, even Total T3 at all. When I asked about this, the practice said they are not doing blood tests anymore and were outsourcing that to a phlebotomist and concentrating on chronic conditions therefore not responding to patient's requests. The practice is now all locums and the pharmacist seems to be taking on dosing amounts.
I paid for the Advanced Thyroid Test at Medichecks to get a baseline as last year was struggling with fatigue and ended up really underactive again. This was linked to supply chain issues with HRT and only recently managed to get a type of HRT that worked and a decent supply of it too. Because of that, I ended up overdosed on levo, and stressed, so I dropped my levo from 112mcg back to 100mcg. I then felt underactive.
I'm currently on 100mcg of levothyroxine and 20mcg of liothyronine. I take both of these in full in the morning. I had been taking the lio in two doses but was forgetting the second dose so I changed to all in one go in the morning and I'm finding that much, much better.
Other supplements I'm taking:
500mg of magnesium glycinate (at night time)
300mg of benfothiamine (B1)
1000mcg of folate (only started taking this)
5000 ius of D3 (only restarting this recently)
200mg of K2 MK7 (restarted recently)
I've just got the results in and they are much better than I thought plus I already feel better from changing the way I took liothyronine.
I know I need to work on increasing my vitamin D and folate. Now that I feel a bit more on an even keel, that should be easier and my brain fog is reducing too.
I'm gluten free although it slipped a bit last year due to lots of work conferences. The TPO result is amazing as it was over 1000 10 years ago.
I've also started going to the gym again, and aware that can use up available T3 but building up slowly.
