Test results, opinion please

Hi,

Just got some tests after upping levo dose by 25mcg in Jan to 125mcg.

TSH 0.06 [0.3-4.2]

FT4 22.5 [12.0-22.0], 105% through range

FT3 5.6 [3.1-6.8], 68% through range

=> FT3:FT4 = 64%

Have Hashimoto’s and both antibodies still 10x above top range.

Vit D 96 [50-200] pleased this is up from 58 3 months ago, switched to Better You spray instead of Doctor’s Best gels

Active B12 174 [25-165] again happy, up from 75, switched to Cytoplan sublingual instead of Doctor’s Best

Folate 6.9 [>2.9]

Ferritin 50 [13-150] down from 78, weird as been eating more pâté and taking SpaTone - would this sort of level cause tiredness?

I take B12, D+K2, magnesium, b-complex, C, zinc, selenium, probiotics. Also LDN.

Test fasting, 9.30am, levo taken after

Same brand, Northstar

Appt with endo in couple weeks. He suggested last time that T3 might be needed. But given that it is in top 1/3rd of range, would this be useful?

Symptoms - no energy, freezing cold hands and feet that stops me sleeping, no real appetite until late afternoon, getting headaches, no amount of sleep helping, tinnitus worse and now get a heartbeat sound when lying on side to sleep.

Strictly gluten and dairy free. Avoid soy like the plague.

Also have diagnosis of post-viral fatigue from EBV.

What else can I do? Get more iron? Try T3? Anything else? I’m so bored trying all the things and nothing working.

Thanks

Aww Yppah, it’s so frustrating, isn’t it?

You’re winning on most of the vitamin levels, so that’s something. Your folate is quite low though—folate works together with B12, so if you’re supplementing B12 you really need to take folate with it (or even better, a good Vit B complex tablet which contains folate rather than folic acid).

As for ferritin, it could be that you need to supplement iron but it’s usually best to check the situation with a full iron panel first, as the reasons for low iron can vary.

It may be that it’s going to take time, even once everything is optimised. Bodies take time to heal and that needs rest and stress management if you can.

Thanks Jazzw . I hadn’t realised the folate was low so checked if more info re range and top is 14.5. In the past I’ve had off the scale folate when B12 deficient. Interesting. I take a b-complex and loads of green veggies. But hadn’t had b-complex for 2 weeks as avoided it for biotin, had a failed test, had to redo and lay off again. Will monitor now, thanks. I’ll try the full iron panel next time also. But yeah I need to be more patient. Uuugh.

Thank you, and sorry you suffer this. I’ll get iron checked further, even if just to rule out one thing.
