I’m now re-introducing supplements after many weeks without them and my metavive. I’ve included a photo of my current brand but it goes only half way down the list, the rest I’ll write. What I wanted to know was, is it an appropriate one? Many of you recommend Igennus, Jarrow and Thorne basic which I’ll be happy to swap to if you tell me that the Viridian multi phytonutrients complex isn’t right
My last nutrient levels just before I stopped taking everything were
Ferritin 79ug/L (10-291)
Folate 17.44ug/L (>5.38)
B12 482ng/L (211-911)
D3 114 .9 nmol/L (>50nmol/L
My vit D needs to be higher than Caucasians as I’m mixed-race
This list is the remainder of what you can’t see in the photo. I also supplement (or will be) with another Viridian co-enzyme B complex but I thought including it in this post would be too much. I can send a separate list
Selenium (L selenomethionine) 200ug
Bromelain 10mg
Quercetin 10mg
Acerola 10mg
Inositol 5mg
Choline bitartrate 2mg
Manganese bisglycinate 1mg
Boron 500ug
Copper (citrate) 1mg
Chromium (picolinate) 200ug
Vit D3 (400iu) 10ug
Folic acid (folacin) 200ug
Vit K1 5ug
Molybdenum (ammonium molybdate)
Vit B12 ( adeno and methycobalamin) 50ug
Biotin 50ug
In a base of alfalfa, spirulina and bilberry. I like that it has natural fillers

* It contains copper and calcium. You probably don't need either, and taking excess would not be a good thing. Hypos should always get copper tested before taking any, and everyone should test calcium before taking any.
* It contains vit D and vit K1. If you're taking vit D, it's K2-MK7 you need, not K1. Taking vit D increases absorption of calcium from food - another reason not to take calcium supplements - and the K2 makes sure it gets into the teeth and bones rather than building up in the soft tissues.
Oh, and another point: it doesn't say what form of magnesium it contains.
So, personally, I'd bin that one. And, I agree that if all you want is a B complex, you'd be better off with Igennus or Jarrow.
Thank you GG, most probably the cheaper type of magnesium then but I do find that on the whole, Viridian is a quality brand and I like that they use plant-based fillers and are organic wherever possible
Can you recommend a brand of K2 Mk7? Viridian don't seem to have one. I've got a couple of bottles of their liquid D3 200iu and I'm presuming I can take the K2 separately
How does one know whether we need all the other B vitamins in the supplement apart from testing? It could get to crazy proportions of testing! I have a separate liquid methylcobalamin but thought the other extra B vits in the supplement I posted details of, might be ok in small doses
Viridian might be a very good brand, I don't know them. And, certainly, plant based fillers are probably a good idea. What is not a good idea is any type of multi-vit, for many, many reasons. The exception to that is, of course, a B complex, but only if it contains just Bs. Other multis contain such a mish-mash of thins a lot of which you probably don't, some of which you shouldn't take - as above -and poor quality ingredients.
Yes, you can take K2 separately from vit D, but I don't know a brand I would recommend.
The thing with the Bs is that they all work together, so when taking B12, you do need to take a B complex - but just the Bs, nothing else - to keep them balanced. But, B12 can be affected by stomach acid, so it's best to take a sublingual form of B12 to ensure proper absorption.
You probably want more B12 as methylcobalamin and also more folate as methylfolate than there is in that. Also need K2, not K1 (which you'll get from eating veg) and way more D3 - at least 2000iu (depending on your current levels). I'd go for a good B complex, with sep B12, K2, magnesium, vit C and vit D. If you take this, stop it 7 days before a blood test
Thank you a of the n, these were my nutrient levels shortly before cessation of taking supplements. They're probably lower now after about 12 weeks without, so I'm keen to start re-introducing them
I have a couple of bottles of Viridian liquid D3200iu and can take the K2 MK7 as a separate supplement I imagine. Can you recommend a brand?
