Hi all just wondering what yous think about these to take daily. I also have a magnesium oxide (266mg) and zinc gluconate (10mg) combined.

I've also got

Vitk2 (50ug) sunflower oil

Magnesium and b6 (1.4mg and 375mg)

1000iu vit d3

Cod liver oil omega 3 extra strength ( cod oil 266mg, fish oil concentrate 263mg, blend omega 3 193mg, pea 92mg dha 68mg, vit d 10ug, vit e 10mg)

Questions is do I take the one in the picture and add magnesium and iron. Or take stuff separately??

Hope someone can help, thanks

I don't know anything about fish oil other than it was recommended to me to take krill oil.

This is basically a multivitamin which aren't recommended here. Looking at that, we can't see exactly the forms of each of the ingredients but I would imagine:

1) Vit K may not be K2-MK7 which is the recommended form when taking D3 as that's the form that directs calcium to bones and teeth and away from arteries and soft tissues. If it's K1 then that is the blood clotting form which should be avoided by anyone who is on blood thinners.

2) Folic acid is the wrong form, the recommended form is methylfolate.

3) B12 is very likely to be cyanocobalamin which is not recommended, methylcobalamin is the recommended form.

As with most multi's the amounts of the actual vitamins are very low and wont help low levels or deficiencies.

I also have a magnesium oxide (266mg) and zinc gluconate (10mg) combined.

Not a good supplement. Magnesium oxide is a very poorly absorbed form of magnesium, it's used as a remedy for constipation. Zinc and copper should be balanced and we Hypos tend to have one high and the other low so before supplementing it's best to test.

Vitk2 (50ug) sunflower oil

Is this K2-mk7?

Magnesium and b6 (1.4mg and 375mg)

What form of magnesium is this?

Does the 375mg refer to the magnesium or the B6?

Maximum amount of B6 for regular use should be no more than 10mg.

1000iu vit d3

What is your Vit D level? This may or may not be enough.

Questions is do I take the one in the picture and add magnesium and iron. Or take stuff separately??

I'd personally bin that.

Is there a reason you need cod liver oil? It always has a lot of Vit A and very little Vit D as you can see. Vit A is fat soluble so excess gets stored and can become toxic.

Best thing to do is test and supplement with good quality supplements for exactly what you need.

Thi is the vit k2 I think its 7.

The magnesium with b6 is... b6 1.4mg and magnesium is 375 mg.

I have the vit d because I was slightly low but sitting in the 50s now.

I wanted to include fish oil as I dont eat meat or fish and just want to make sure I'm getting some. I've started cooking with a good quality olive oil which I think is a source of omega 9.

The reason for zinc I'd for hair loss and also the biotin which I know I have to stop a couple of weeks before my next thyroid test. ( tsh was 4.9)

That multivitamen doesnt have iron in so thought it might be worth a try. And it doesnt have iodine eitherAlso I am looking into a decent quality b complex as I already have b12 jabs. I just feel like I need a little of each just to be sure I'm not going to be low in anything else.

I think this is k2 7

Yes, that's K2-MK7.

The magnesium with b6 is... b6 1.4mg and magnesium is 375 mg.

What form of magnesium it? There are various forms and each benefits certain things, eg magnesium oxide is for constipation.

Different forms can be seen here:

Magnesium and zinc should not be taken together, either.

Yes that's right GG. Makes you wonder why these manufacturers produce this rubbishy stuff.

Darcey14 See slide 6 here which mentions not taking zinc and magnesium at the same time (the whole article is worth reading):

webmd.com/vitamins-and-supp...

Don’t use calcium, zinc, or magnesium supplements at the same time.

Why? Because people buy them. I once saw an Iron plus calcium supplement in Sainsbury's! lol

Quite why people buy them is another matter entirely.

Trouble with that slide-show is that it appears to recommend multi-vits.

Like a lot of articles I just take the useful bits from it.

So I could take that vitamen k with an oil based vitamen d3? If you can get that. Or say the oil k in the morning and the d tablet at night? Both with a small amount of fat.

And just a plain omega 3 6 and 9?

I really want my iodine tested aswell but I might save up for a medichecks one.

The magnesium and zinc I found relaxing and the zinc was for my hair. I'm guessing a good b complex wont do me any harm as it has biotin in.

Thanks for helping. It's a rabbit hole that I've called down. And with not eating meat or fish I'm now realising how much I lack.

I can’t comment on that I'm afraid I don't have any experience of it.

So I could take that vitamen k with an oil based vitamen d3?

Yes. My D3 is a oil based softgel (Doctor's Best although there are other oil based D3 supplements).

Or say the oil k in the morning and the d tablet at night? Both with a small amount of fat.

An oil based K2-mk7 wouldn't need any extra fat. But I wouldn't take a non-oil based D3 at the same time. A non-oil based D3 would need to be taken with some dietary fat, either the fattiest meal of the day or some cheese, full fat yogurt, etc.

Take what alone? I just feel like a want a little bit of each because I know I'm lacking in my diet. My iron b12 and vit d I can manage. I just want a multi vit as a kind of level to keep me bobbing along.

Not what you're looking for?
