Help with latest tests results please...

Hi

I've been feeling extremely hormonal and low lately so i got a full blood test and this is what came back:

TSH - 0.02 (0.27-4.20)

T3 - 4.9 (3.10-6.8)

T4 - 13.6 (12-22)

I'm currently taking 12.5mcg of T3 and 75mcg T4 (although my GP has increased this to 100mcg after this test) I've been trying to go take more T4 than T4 but seems im going the other way now because i cannot afford to go privately and T4 is all the NHS dr's know. They panic when they see my TSH results!

Hormones:

Testosterone - 1.2 (0.3-1.7)

Oestrogen - 521

LH - 7.9

FSH - 4.9

Prolactin - 408 (<699)

SHBG - 143 (30-130)

These all look fairly normal to me but i dont know, i have severe mood swings so i assumed my hormones were out of whack.

Vitamins

vit D - 59 (>75 is optimal)

folate - 9.7 (2.5-19.5)

ferritin - 67.7 (15-150)

B12 - 493 (180-900)

My vitamin D is low so ive started taking a supplement again but everything looks normal! If anyone has any ideas on this then please do share. Unless it's all just my thyroid still playing silly buggers...

Your TSH is suppressed but this isn't unusual when you take T3.

T3 and T4 are both very low in range, suggesting you might be under-medicated despite the TSH reading. Other than feeling hormonal, do you feel well?

Yes my GP wants me to reduce my T3 even further but i am reluctant as starting T3 was what made me feel well after after years of felling yukky on T4 only. I feel very sluggish, swollen and my moods are very very low most of the time. I have loads of cellulite and struggle to lose weight despite working out 3 times a week and doing at least 12k steps a day. I get dizzy spells sometimes and struggle with sleep so i guess they can all be due to being undermedicated still but i really thought there was more going on with my hormones. Im not convinced i ovulate but it's hard to tell as i have a mirena coil which stopped my periods years ago.

Do you think this is all to do with my low T4 & T3?

On almost any dose of T3 it’s almost inevitable TSH becomes suppressed

Many of us need good levels of Ft4 and Ft3

Good your GP has increased levothyroxine to 100mcg

You should see Ft3 and Ft4 rise

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

If/when also on T3, make sure to take last dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test
