Increased levo feeling worse

Apologies in advance for my very long post. Feeling really down and would love some advice if anyone can help.

3 months taking 25mcg of levo I noticed a slight improvement in some symptoms, noticeably my mood and the fatigue. I started my increased dose of 50mcg a week ago and I am feeling awful again. So emotional and exhausted. I sort of feel like I have a constant hangover. I have taken the last two days off work (feeling very guilty about taking time off) and still exhausted whilst doing nothing! Has anyone else experienced symptoms worsening when changing doses?

I have also been prescribed Vitamin D and calcium supplements. Vit D is 800mg a day, is this dosage high enough? Doctor said all other vitamin levels are fine.

Go back down to 25mcg. Increases and raises of thyroid meds are part of the process.

Over time your body may be happier on an increase, but at the moment it doesn't like it.

Your Ft4 at 17 is in an ok place.

TSH is 4 so a little high. Better being around 1.

See how you feel back at 25mcg T4 and then try and increase again in a few weeks, but doing a 50 every third day.

T4 only may not be the full answer as well. You may need a little T3, but try work with the T4 for now.

Vitamin D is low and you may want to use 2 tablets of Vitamin D per day.

Thanks for your reply. I have got a combined vit d and calcium, worried about taking too much calcium if I take more of them. I will go and buy some more vitamin D and top it up.

Vit D will not go up on the dose you are taking. Search SeasideSusie's posts-lots of brilliant info on ranges and how to treat things properly. With Vit D you need a booster dose to get it higher. What you have been given is a very low maintenance dose. Look at the other things as well.

Sometimes we don't react well to thyroid meds if Vits etc are low so get them checked out and supplement. It takes time to reach the end product but worth it.
