New blood tests!

Please take the time to see my new tests:

Ft4 0.95 (0.89-1.76)

Ft3 3.50 (1.8-4.2)

TSH 26.655 (0.550-4.780)

Anti thyroglobulin >3000 UI/ml (< 40 UI/ml)

Anti tpo 959 UI/ml (< 35 UI/ml)

Ferritin 81.3 ng/ml (5-148ng/ml)

B12 500 pg/ml (211 - 911 / pg/ml )

Thyroglobulin 46.2 ng/ml (1.6 - 60 / ng/ml)

Potassium 4.43 (3.5-5.5mmol/l)

Iodine 58ng/ml (40-92ng/ml)

Selenium 127 ng/ml (70-150ng/ml)

pH 5 (5-6)

I have Hashimoto's, on January 27th I increased T4 with 25mcg, 7 days ago (50 before this), so now I take 75 mcg, no results so far, still waiting). In 4-5 weeks I will surely have the tests again. Thank you all for your patience!

Aurealya,

You were very undermedicated on 50mcg to have TSH 26. You will almost certainly need another dose increase in a few weeks.

The goal of Levothyroxine is to restore the patient to euthyroid status. For most patients that will be when TSH is 0.2 - 1.0 with FT4 in the upper range. FT4 needs to be in the upper range in order that sufficient T3 is converted. Read Treatment Options in thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_...

Thyroid peroxidase and thyroglobulin antibodies are positive for autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's). There is no cure for Hashimoto's which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Levothyroxine treatment is for the low thyroid levels it causes. Many people have found that 100% gluten-free diet is helpful in reducing Hashi flares, symptoms and eventually antibodies.

Your vitamin and mineral results look fine.

Thank you! so, I should increase the T4 intake, however, I'm confused: they say Hashi's one reason is too much or too little iodine; mine is perfect! the tests also show enough selenium, should I go on taking selenium, like till now?

Have you thought about magnesium ?

Yes, of course! I forgot to post it, the levels for magnesium are ok. Besides, I take magnesium chloride everyday, a 1/1 dilution. Vit D, ok, too! Thanks a lot!

Auraelya,

Levothyroxine is usually increased in 25mcg dose increments at 6 week intervals until TSH is 0.2 -1.0.

Iodine deficiency isn't a common cause of Hashi's in the western hemisphere but too much iodine can certainly trigger Hashi's. I would continue supplementing 100-200mcg selenium to maintain levels.

If you are doing all the basics so well you are into the “next stuff” and in that category is a combination of any of the following:

-Giving up eggs/alcohol/cheese

-Adding celery juice /salted orange juice /collagen powder/black coffee

-black cumin seed oil

Well that is what I am doing anyway ...

There is a long list of other stuff that gets recommended from acidopholus to ACV to liver salts to gluten free and the rest and this helped very partially ...not the case for others

sadly, my basic food is...eggs, I don't eat ANY meat, so I need some protein; why do you use collagen powder? I have knee pains, maybe for that?

Collagen repairs the structure of the thyroid and repairs what it can of what is left.

I kicked off a discussion on here over reported egg concerns the other day and some reported they loved eggs - the book I have been following recently on thyroid repair sees eggs as just about the worst thing possible - and btw I have always really enjoyed eggs - so it is a new direction for me food wise.

Good luck in what you do !

I understand. What kind of collagen powder do you take? Where? ebay? does it help? I really need something to repair my knee, too! on the other hand, I've seen an endo today and he said to immediately increase my levo to 100!
